Seller's Description

Up for sale is a genuine, 100% complete Velodyne Digital Drive Accessory Kit (80-DDAK) in its original factory box. This is the essential room-optimisation package required to run the automated or manual digital room correction and 8-band parametric EQ on Velodyne’s flagship DD-Series subwoofers (DD-10, DD-12, DD-15, DD-18) and the standalone SMS-1 Subwoofer Management System.

Perfect if you've bought a second-hand DD subwoofer that was missing its setup gear, or if your original kit went missing over the years. Without the dedicated remote, it is notoriously difficult to access and navigate the sub's internal DSP menus—this kit gives you everything you need to dial in your room acoustics perfectly.

The set is in great condition and is complete with all factory components:

•
Original Velodyne Handheld Remote Control (Crucial for accessing the on-screen setup menus)

•
User Manual / Calibration Guide

•
Velodyne Calibration Microphone (High-precision acoustic mic)

•
Microphone Stand & Tabletop Mount Adapter

•
Foam Mic Windscreen / Dust Cover

•
Heavy-Duty XLR Microphone Cable (Generous 20ft / 6m length)

• Audio & Video Interconnect Cables (For running the on-screen display interface to your TV monitor)

Please note: Collection from our Murarrie showroom or freight at buyer's expense. We do not offer free shipping on traded equipment. Please contact prior to purchase to organise.

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Age matters here: the 80-DDAK belongs to Velodyne’s older Digital Drive generation, but it remains useful because the calibrated microphone and cables enable the subwoofer’s automatic room-EQ setup. At A$220, it is below the A$306 25th-percentile mark from 31 comparable listings, making this a strong deal rather than merely a fair buy.

The appeal is practical, not cosmetic: the kit supports DD-12, DD-15 and DD-18 models, and a complete set can be surprisingly difficult to replace when buying an older Digital Drive subwoofer separately. The contents should include the calibrated microphone, windscreen, stand or adapter, and the required audio/XLR cables. Confirm every component is present and that the microphone cable and connectors are sound; assuming completeness, A$220 is an excellent accessory purchase for a DD owner or someone assembling a period-correct system.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Velodyne

Velodyne Acoustics traces its origins to 1983, when founder David Hall launched the brand in Silicon Valley, the epicenter of high-tech innovation. Hall, an engineer with a vision for revolutionizing home audio, introduced the groundbreaking ULD-18 subwoofer featuring a patented accelerometer-based High Gain Servo system. This technology delivered unprecedented control over low-frequency reproduction, setting a new standard for bass performance in music and movies and establishing Velodyne as a pioneer in powered subwoofers.

The brand's product focus remains laser-sharp on subwoofers, with over 200 patents driving innovations like the world's first DSP-controlled model in 2003. Velodyne specializes in high-quality active subwoofers optimized for hi-fi stereo systems and home cinema, emphasizing deep, distortion-free bass that integrates seamlessly into demanding setups. While not diversifying into speakers, amplifiers, or other categories, their designs prioritize technical precision for audiophiles seeking foundational low-end authority.

Velodyne holds a commanding reputation as the world's leading subwoofer manufacturer for over 40 years, positioned firmly in the high-end market for discerning hi-fi and custom install buyers. Acquired by Germany's Audio Reference in 2019 and now exclusively imported in the U.S. by Origin Acoustics via custom channels, the brand continues to embody bass perfection, blending American engineering heritage with European stewardship.
