Offered is „SCM 100 SE Active“ by ATC as second-hand device from the category „Standing Speaker“ on audio-markt.de - the online market place for high-end. The advert with the number 8922211588 ends on 21.12.2026 at 14:02 o'clock.
This is an ambitious ask, not a deal. At €23,900, it sits nearly three times above the €8,070 75th-percentile asking price from 39 recent comparable listings, and far beyond the €4,225 median. Unless this is an unusually late, pristine pair with meaningful extras or exceptional provenance, the premium is difficult to justify on the used market.
The SCM 100 SL Active remains a serious loudspeaker: its large Super Linear bass driver, celebrated ATC midrange dome, and built-in tri-amplification deliver scale, dynamics, low distortion, and unusually controlled, transparent presentation. It is a compelling choice for a large room and removes the need to match external amplification. At this price, however, verify the exact generation, amplifier service history, serial-matched pair status, original grilles and documentation, and whether warranty or delivery is included; otherwise, substantial negotiation is warranted.

ATC (Acoustic Transducer Company), a British engineering powerhouse, was founded in 1974 by innovative loudspeaker designer Billy Woodman. Initially focused on crafting custom drive units for the professional audio sector, the company quickly gained acclaim with its 12-inch PA75-314 driver, renowned for superior power handling and minimal distortion at high sound pressure levels. In 1976, ATC introduced the groundbreaking SM75-150 soft dome midrange driver, revolutionizing dispersion, bandwidth, and clarity in studio monitors.
The brand specializes in high-precision loudspeakers, designing and manufacturing its own drivers—including tweeters, midrange, and bass units—in-house for both professional and home applications. Its SCM series offers a spectrum from compact models like the SCM7 to larger formats, available in active and passive configurations. ATC also produces standalone electronics, such as preamplifiers, power amplifiers, and integrated amps like the SIA2-150, all built to uncompromising standards of accuracy and reliability.
ATC commands a elite position in the high-end hi-fi market, revered by recording studios worldwide for its transparent, detail-revealing monitors and by discerning audiophiles for domestic speakers that deliver reference-grade performance. A professional ethos, advanced materials, and innovations like the Super Linear Driver—slashing distortion in the vocal range—cement its status as a boutique leader, where precision engineering trumps mass production.
