Are you looking for a genuinely clean travel and commuting headphone, rather than the newest model? At €290, this is a fair price, but not a bargain: it sits exactly at the 75th-percentile asking price of €290 across 1,289 comparable listings, versus a €154 median and €97 25th percentile. “Neuwertig” condition and original packaging are therefore important to the value.
The 700 remains a strong buy for excellent adjustable noise cancellation, comfortable long-session wear, clear voice calls, USB-C charging, and roughly 20 hours of battery life. It is particularly good for flights, trains, and office use, with a more polished design than older Bose models. Confirm that the case, charging cable, and audio cable are present, and test battery life, touch controls, ANC modes, and both microphones. At this price, complete accessories and genuinely near-new pads and headband are what make it worthwhile.
Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.
Bose Corporation traces its roots to 1964, when MIT professor Amar Gopal Bose founded the company in Natick, Massachusetts, after growing disillusioned with the poor performance of a high-end stereo system he purchased as a graduate student. Driven by a passion for replicating the immersive qualities of live music through rigorous acoustic research, Bose launched the venture with initial contracts for the U.S. military and NASA, emphasizing innovative speaker designs that prioritized indirect, reverberant sound over direct radiation. This American heritage, rooted in psychoacoustics and engineering excellence, has defined the brand's pursuit of "Better Sound Through Research."
Bose excels in consumer and professional audio categories, renowned for its home audio systems, premium speakers like the iconic 901 Series, and pioneering noise-canceling headphones first prototyped in the 1980s for pilots. The lineup extends to vehicle sound systems, portable Bluetooth speakers, and professional installations, but steers clear of niche hi-fi components such as amplifiers, turntables, DACs, or cables, focusing instead on integrated, user-friendly solutions that blend advanced signal processing with spatial audio reproduction.
Positioned as a premium mid-tier powerhouse in the global market, Bose commands widespread appeal among discerning buyers seeking accessible high-performance audio without audiophile esoterica. Its reputation for innovation and reliability has built a loyal following, though purists occasionally critique its measured sound signature, cementing Bose as a dominant force in mainstream hi-fi rather than high-end boutique or vintage realms.
