€149 is a strong buy, sitting below the €173 median and well above the €85 bargain cutoff—but still comfortably within the normal used market.
This is a capable, straightforward active subwoofer: its 250 mm long-throw driver, 100 W RMS amplifier, bass-reflex cabinet, and claimed 34 Hz extension make it a sensible match for a modest home-cinema setup, especially Teufel Consono systems. At €149, it offers good impact for the money and is a worthwhile purchase if it is fully functional. Check that the amplifier starts cleanly, standby works, there is no hum or distortion, and the grille, feet, and power cable are present; those details matter more than minor cabinet wear.

Teufel is a German audio brand with roots in Berlin, where it was founded in 1979 by Carl Teufel. Emerging during the heyday of home hi-fi enthusiasm, the company built its heritage on engineering-driven innovation, initially focusing on custom speaker designs that prioritized precision and dynamic sound reproduction for discerning listeners.
The brand excels in active speakers and soundbars, alongside wireless multi-room systems, headphones, and portable Bluetooth options. While not delving into amplifiers, turntables, DACs, or cables, Teufel emphasizes integrated solutions with built-in amplification and app-controlled streaming, catering to modern home entertainment setups.
Positioned as a mid-tier contender with premium aspirations, Teufel enjoys a strong reputation in Europe for delivering high-value performance—bold bass, spacious imaging, and robust build quality—that punches above its price point. It appeals to knowledgeable buyers seeking reliable, stylish hi-fi without ultra-high-end excess, holding a solid niche in the competitive consumer audio market.
