The British Audiophile's streamer of choice. This Volumio Rivo+ is only 6 months old and is in "as new" condition. The sound quality was a surprisingly and clearly audible step up from my old streamer and I'm only selling because I've gone down the HQPlayer route and the Rivo+ is no longer requir...
The Rivo is a notable, purpose-built streaming transport rather than a DAC—it needs an external converter—but A$1,500 is an ambitious ask for a used unit. Your comparable listings put the market median at A$1,340, with the 75th percentile at A$1,537, so this sits near the top of the normal range rather than looking like a bargain.
It remains a worthwhile buy for a system that values Volumio’s mature interface, clean digital delivery, and flexible outputs: filtered USB for a DAC, plus coaxial and AES/EBU. The isolated digital connections and dedicated low-noise USB supply are useful details, particularly with a revealing external DAC. At A$1,500, condition, original packaging, power supply, and a clean ownership history matter; with everything included, it is fair but should be negotiated toward the median.

Volumio traces its origins to Florence, Italy, a cradle of artistic and artisanal excellence, where it was founded by Michelangelo Guarise. This Italian innovator assembled a team of engineers, music lovers, and audiophiles driven by a passion for superior sound and elegant design. Emerging from a landscape rich in craftsmanship, Volumio has evolved over more than a decade, channeling that heritage into cutting-edge audio solutions that honor precision and purpose—exemplified by projects like the Motivo streamer, born from collaborations with design firm Design Narratives and audio specialist Yottamusic.
The brand specializes in digital audio streaming and playback, centering on its proprietary Volumio OS—a lightweight, Linux-based operating system optimized for audiophile-grade music reproduction across platforms like Raspberry Pi, Windows, and dedicated hardware. Known for streamers such as the acclaimed Primo, equipped with high-end ESS Sabre ES9038Q2M DACs, precision clocks, and innovative METACLOCK technology, Volumio excels in reclocking audio streams via FPGA for jitter-free performance. It supports vast formats including DSD and multichannel, with open-source plugins expanding functionality like Roon Bridge integration, while powering products from other high-end manufacturers.
Volumio holds a strong niche in the high-end digital audio market as an agile innovator, bridging software prowess with hardware refinement to deliver reliable, format-agnostic streaming. Praised in audiophile circles for efficiency and expandability, it appeals to discerning buyers seeking premium digital fronts without bloat, positioning itself as a mid-to-high-tier contender that accelerates innovation in a competitive field.
