system is in good shape and comes with remote
This is a buyer’s market for compact all-in-one systems, and US$149 is a strong deal here: it sits exactly at the 25th-percentile mark, well below the US$185 median and under the US$287 upper quartile from 18 comparable listings. For a Bose Wave Music system, that is bargain territory rather than merely fair pricing.
The appeal is its unusually capable, space-efficient presentation: clear, room-filling sound, a useful AM/FM tuner, CD playback, and an AUX input in a compact cabinet. Bose’s detachable power cable is included, which removes an easy source of extra expense, though confirm the remote is present if one is expected. Before buying, verify that the display, controls, tuner, AUX input, and CD mechanism all work; older optical drives are the main meaningful age-related concern.

Bose Corporation traces its roots to 1964, when MIT professor Amar Gopal Bose founded the company in Natick, Massachusetts, after growing disillusioned with the poor performance of a high-end stereo system he purchased as a graduate student. Driven by a passion for replicating the immersive qualities of live music through rigorous acoustic research, Bose launched the venture with initial contracts for the U.S. military and NASA, emphasizing innovative speaker designs that prioritized indirect, reverberant sound over direct radiation. This American heritage, rooted in psychoacoustics and engineering excellence, has defined the brand's pursuit of "Better Sound Through Research."
Bose excels in consumer and professional audio categories, renowned for its home audio systems, premium speakers like the iconic 901 Series, and pioneering noise-canceling headphones first prototyped in the 1980s for pilots. The lineup extends to vehicle sound systems, portable Bluetooth speakers, and professional installations, but steers clear of niche hi-fi components such as amplifiers, turntables, DACs, or cables, focusing instead on integrated, user-friendly solutions that blend advanced signal processing with spatial audio reproduction.
Positioned as a premium mid-tier powerhouse in the global market, Bose commands widespread appeal among discerning buyers seeking accessible high-performance audio without audiophile esoterica. Its reputation for innovation and reliability has built a loyal following, though purists occasionally critique its measured sound signature, cementing Bose as a dominant force in mainstream hi-fi rather than high-end boutique or vintage realms.
