At £1,500, the obvious alternative is a newer or higher-tier interconnect, but against this model’s used market it is still a fair price rather than a bargain. Recent comparable asking prices put the median at £1,213, with the upper quartile at £1,537, so this sits near the top of normal territory without becoming clearly excessive.
The Frey 2 remains a well-regarded, revealing cable: its low-capacitance design, silver-plated solid-core conductors, Dual Mono-Filament construction and substantial shielding are intended to deliver a quiet background, strong transient detail and good dynamics. It also tends to integrate well with both solid-state and valve systems. At this money, confirm the exact length, RCA or XLR termination, connector condition and original packaging; with those right, it is a defensible buy for someone specifically seeking the Frey 2’s fast, open presentation.

Nordost, an American high-end audio brand, traces its origins to 1991 when it was founded in Massachusetts, just outside Boston. From the outset, the company committed to designing, engineering, and manufacturing all products exclusively in the United States, drawing on aerospace-derived technologies like conductor solutions to pioneer its signature flat cable geometry. This Northeast-rooted heritage—reflected even in the brand's name, meaning "northeast" in Scandinavian languages—has defined Nordost as a beacon of innovation in signal preservation for over three decades.
The brand specializes in premium hi-fi cables and accessories, including speaker cables, interconnects, digital cables, power cords, and video transmission lines. Nordost employs advanced techniques such as Micro Mono-Filament construction and mechanically tuned lengths to minimize distortion and maximize fidelity. Beyond cables, its lineup extends to power distribution systems, grounding solutions, and resonance control devices, forming a comprehensive ecosystem that enhances the entire audio chain without venturing into amplifiers, speakers, or turntables.
Renowned among audiophiles worldwide, Nordost occupies a premium niche in the high-end market, celebrated for revolutionary designs that deliver unadulterated sound. From accessible Leif series entry points to exotic Valhalla and Odin flagships, its products command respect in over 60 countries, positioning the brand as a go-to for discerning buyers seeking boundary-pushing performance and uncompromising quality.
