Excellent condition makes this an especially attractive price: at €120, it sits comfortably within the normal used market, below the €155 75th-percentile mark and only modestly above the €104 median. It is not quite a statistical bargain—the €82 lower quartile is where the standout deals begin—but it looks plainly fair for a clean, complete example.
The NT1-A remains a capable large-diaphragm condenser, valued for its exceptionally low self-noise, broad dynamic range, and useful vocal and acoustic-instrument performance. The complete kit is a real advantage: confirm that the SM6 shock mount, pop filter, XLR cable, and dust cover are present, since replacing those would erode the value. You’ll also need a preamp or interface with 48V phantom power. For home recording, this is a sensible, low-risk buy at the asking price.

RØDE Microphones traces its roots to 1967, when Henry Freedman, a London-born sound engineer, and his Swedish wife Astrid founded Freedman Electronics in Australia after emigrating from Europe. Their son Peter, inspired by a Chinese large-diaphragm condenser microphone spotted at a 1981 Shanghai trade show, imported and refined it into the NT1 in the early 1990s, formally launching the RØDE brand—its distinctive 'Ø' nodding to the family's Scandinavian heritage. From modest PA installations, the company evolved into a global force, acquiring Event Electronics in 2006 and Mackie in 2023.
The brand excels in professional and consumer microphones, particularly condensers like the NT1 and NT2 series, alongside dynamic models such as the Podcaster and Procaster tailored for broadcasting and podcasting. RØDE also produces video microphones, USB interfaces, and accessories, with manufacturing rooted in Australia using locally sourced metals. While not focused on traditional hi-fi categories like amplifiers, speakers, turntables, DACs, headphones, or cables, its audio gear bridges studio, content creation, and live sound.
RØDE holds a strong mid-tier position in the pro audio market, prized by podcasters, filmmakers, and engineers for reliable, high-value performance that rivals pricier competitors. Its Australian-made quality and innovative accessibility have built a loyal following among knowledgeable creators seeking pro-grade tools without boutique premiums, cementing its reputation as a modern essential rather than vintage or high-end esoterica.
