The unknown condition is the key point here. At £313, this sits exactly at the 75th percentile of five recent comparables and above the £239 median, so it is a strong price only if the amplifier is exceptionally clean, fully tested, and complete; otherwise, it is ambitious rather than a bargain.
The Aura Evolution remains a desirable British integrated, with a smooth, dynamic presentation, tight but weighty bass, excellent stereo separation, and a useful built-in MM phono stage. Its 50-watt output is plenty for many sensible loudspeaker pairings, and the understated mirror-black styling has aged well. Before paying the top of the range, confirm quiet controls, both channels, phono operation, input switching, and that the original knobs and casing are intact. A clean, serviced example could justify £313; an unverified one should be negotiated down toward the median.

Aura most credibly refers to Aura Audio Oy, a Finnish loudspeaker manufacturer founded in the late 1990s on Finland’s southwest coast by two sound engineers. It is an independent company, and the available company profile emphasizes its roots in customer-driven design and technical innovation rather than mass-market branding.
The brand is known primarily for loudspeaker systems, especially in the pro-audio and installed-sound space, rather than consumer hi-fi categories like turntables, headphones, or DACs. Available descriptions point to a specialist maker focused on speaker systems and related professional audio applications.
In market terms, Aura sits as a niche, engineering-led boutique brand with a strong pro-audio identity. It is not a broad mainstream hi-fi name, but among knowledgeable buyers it carries a reputation for serious design, custom-oriented development, and export-level credibility. Because “Aura” is used by multiple unrelated audio companies, this identification is the one that can be stated with the highest confidence.
