Offered is „MX 406 FM/AM Tuner / CD Player“ by McIntosh as second-hand device from the category „CD Drive“ on audio-markt.de - the online market place for high-end. The advert with the number 6647556116 ends on 23.12.2026 at 18:32 o'clock.
The MX406’s age matters: this is a late-1990s, single-DIN automotive unit rather than a current home CD player, so compatibility and installation context are crucial. At €280, though, it is a strong bargain against your comparable market: well below the €3,566 25th-percentile figure and dramatically under the €5,193 median. That makes the price compelling if the listing is genuinely for a working MX406 rather than a similarly named component.
Its appeal is the unusually refined McIntosh car-audio execution: a solid, distinctive control centre with AM/FM, CD playback, a 20-bit DAC, useful analogue controls and high-voltage line outputs. The classic glass display and compact single-DIN format also make it attractive for a period-correct build. Before buying, confirm that the CD transport reads and ejects reliably, the display and buttons work, the security code is included or known, and the required wiring or harness is present; at this price, a complete tested example is an exceptional find.
