SW1 X LPU II phono Valve preamplifier. rnrnAlso listed on ebay. rnI will ship worldwide in two separate packages. One for the unit and one for the tubes. Please call or message to discuss shipping costs to your destination
The used market for this SW1X phono preamp centres around £8,373, with recent comparable asking prices ranging from £6,139 at the 25th percentile to £10,619 at the 75th. At £3,250, this is a genuine bargain—well below even the lower quartile, assuming the model and condition are accurately represented.
It is a particularly appealing buy for an MM-based vinyl system: the LPU II’s valve, Class A, active-RIAA design is known for a quiet, expansive, natural presentation with strong dynamics and scale. It can also suit an MC cartridge when paired with an appropriate step-up transformer. The main practical check is compatibility: confirm the cartridge, valve complement, power supply, and physical depth before buying. In excellent condition at this price, it looks like a serious opportunity rather than merely fair money.
Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.
SW1X Audio Design, founded by Dr. Slawa Roschkow—a Russian engineer who settled in Great Britain via Germany—traces its roots to Essex, England, where all products are designed and hand-assembled. Pronounced "As One eX Audio Design," the brand embodies Roschkow's vision as founder, managing director, and chief audio engineer to push the boundaries of musical authenticity. From its inception, SW1X has prioritized timeless, high-performance equipment over cost constraints, resurrecting the soul of recordings through meticulous craftsmanship.
The brand specializes in extreme, valve/tube-based audio components, including DACs like the DAC III and DAC II SPX, alongside amplifiers and integrated systems that ascend through performance levels from I to X. These designs eschew modern oversampling in favor of non-oversampling discrete R2R architectures, delivering fluid, organic sound. SW1X focuses on pure analog-like reproduction, with each tier refining circuits for greater lushness and expressiveness, appealing to purists seeking unadulterated musicality.
Positioned as a niche boutique in the high-end hi-fi market, SW1X commands a cult following among discerning audiophiles for its upbeat, soulful presentation that redefines digital and tube playback. Reviewed glowingly in specialist forums and publications, it stands apart from mass-market offerings, thriving in exclusive showrooms like Germany's Audio Creativ. For knowledgeable buyers, SW1X represents uncompromising excellence in a crowded field.
