The T+A Pulsar CD 1000 is a notable early German-built player, and at €269 it looks like a genuine bargain. That is far below the €1,213 25th-percentile figure from 251 comparable listings, and comfortably below the €3,675 median; even specialist examples have appeared around €399, making this asking price especially attractive if “good” means fully working.
It offers solid construction, a substantial 7.5 kg chassis, coaxial digital output, and a distinctive vintage T+A presentation rather than anonymous budget hardware. Its four-times oversampling and 16-bit converter design are period-correct but still perfectly usable, especially as a transport into a modern DAC. Check that it reads discs reliably, the drawer and buttons behave properly, and confirm whether the optional remote is included; at €269, a clean, functional example remains an easy recommendation.

T+A, a pinnacle of German hi-fi engineering, traces its roots to 1978 when physicist Siegfried Amft founded the company in Herford, northwest Germany. Standing for "Theorie und Anwendung in der Elektroakustik" (Theory and Application in Electroacoustics), it began with a bold vision: crafting exceptional audio products despite limited resources. Amft's early focus on loudspeakers evolved rapidly into electronics, establishing T+A as a family-run enterprise driven by scientific curiosity and relentless innovation.
The brand excels across a broad spectrum of high-end categories, from meticulously engineered amplifiers and cutting-edge music players to top-tier separates, compact Hi-Fi systems, and all-in-one solutions. Its loudspeakers, both passive and active, remain a cornerstone, complemented by pioneering digital components like the world's first DSD 1024-capable player. This comprehensive range spans analog and digital domains, catering to audiophiles seeking uncompromising performance.
Positioned firmly in the high-end market, T+A commands respect as Germany's market leader and one of the world's most influential hi-fi marques. Renowned for pushing technological boundaries—through ties to elite technical universities and in-house R&D—it delivers products that blend engineering precision with emotional musicality, appealing to discerning buyers who demand the ultimate in fidelity.
