The S17 Pro has earned a strong reputation as a powerful, refined Class A amplifier, and £466 is a fair price rather than a bargain. It sits almost exactly on the £465 median from 16 comparable listings, comfortably within the normal £421–£498 range; with the condition unspecified, there is no obvious price advantage, but it is certainly not overpriced.
Its appeal is substantial: a warm, engaging presentation, excellent drive for demanding planar headphones, balanced connectivity, preamp outputs, selectable current modes, and an unusually effective R2R volume control. It is especially well suited to full-size headphones rather than sensitive IEMs. Check that the original remote and power accessories are included, and allow plenty of ventilation—the Class A design runs hot—but a clean, complete example at £466 remains a sensible buy.

Aune Audio traces its roots to 2004 in Wuhan, China, where a group of six seasoned audio enthusiasts and DIY experts united under the banner of the influential HIFIDIY.NET community. This online hub, active from 2004 to 2014, fostered a decade of innovative designs and shared passion for high-fidelity sound. Evolving from Wuhan AO LAI ER Technology Co., Ltd. and later Wuhan Aune Acoustics Co., Ltd., the brand emerged as one of China's pioneering dedicated digital audio enterprises, blending engineering expertise with a commitment to quality manufacturing.
The company specializes in a focused lineup of hi-fi components, including desktop DAC/amp combos, headphone amplifiers, digital transports, players, clocks, and headphones. Standouts include the S9c Pro with its dual ES9068A DACs, ultra-low-jitter clock synchronization, and discrete twin-JFET amplification delivering up to 5W. On the headphone front, Aune's AR-series features innovative MLD (Multi-Layer Distributed) diaphragms for enhanced driver performance, alongside ergonomic designs that prioritize measurable fidelity in distortion, noise, and frequency response.
Positioned as a mid-tier contender in the global hi-fi market, Aune earns respect for rational integration of proven technologies, delivering solid performance without extravagant claims. It appeals to discerning buyers seeking value-driven precision over hype, with reliable support like 24-month warranties and EU shipping from Germany. While not a luxury pinnacle, its thoughtful engineering cements a niche for practical, high-quality audio solutions.
