Kimber Kable traces its roots to 1979, when Ray Kimber founded the company in the United States after working at a Los Angeles sound and lighting firm in the mid-1970s. Frustrated by noise interference in professional disco installations, Kimber experimented with braided wire designs to counter RFI and EMI without shielding. Hand-braiding his first speaker cables proved transformative, not only rejecting noise but enhancing audio fidelity, prompting him to launch the brand as a pioneer in high-end cabling.
The company specializes exclusively in audiophile cables, including speaker wires, interconnects, and power cords, eschewing amplifiers, speakers, or source components. Its signature technologies—such as Varistrand conductors blending varied strand diameters, GyroQuadratic braiding, and high-purity copper or silver with Teflon insulation—minimize loop area and antenna effects for superior neutrality. Precision terminations and robust builds underscore a commitment to durability and performance.
Kimber Kable holds a venerable position in the high-end audio market, revered for over four decades as a boutique innovator among discerning buyers. While pricing sparks debate, its proven noise-rejection geometry, worldwide dealer networks, and comprehensive warranties affirm its status as a trusted choice for systems demanding transparency and longevity.
