Our Thoughts RADAR AI

At €99, this is the obvious alternative to buying a newer budget streamer or phone purely for music, and it looks like a fair-to-good buy. Recent comparable listings put the median at €93, with the middle half running from €51 to €168, so this sits almost exactly at market level rather than being a bargain. The price is sensible if the unit is clean and fully functional.

The seventh-generation touch remains a very handy pocket source: compact, quick enough for music apps, and compatible with Apple Lossless and FLAC, while retaining a useful wired headphone output. Its 32 GB capacity suits a focused library, though less so a large lossless collection. Check battery health, charging, headphone output, touchscreen, Wi‑Fi, and activation status before committing; an ageing battery is the only meaningful concern at this price.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Apple

Apple Inc. traces its origins to April 1, 1976, when Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, along with Ronald Wayne, founded the company in the Jobs family garage in Cupertino, California. What began as a modest venture to build personal computers evolved into a tech powerhouse, with early forays into audio via the 2001 launch of iTunes and the iconic iPod portable music player.

In the hi-fi realm, Apple focuses on integrated consumer audio solutions rather than traditional separates like amplifiers, turntables, or DACs. The company is renowned for wireless speakers such as the short-lived iPod Hi-Fi (2006-2007) and the more advanced HomePod series, alongside premium headphones including AirPods and AirPods Max. These products emphasize seamless ecosystem integration, portability, and digital streaming over analog purism.

Apple holds a dominant position in the premium consumer audio market, blending high-end aspirations with mass-market accessibility. While not a staple among traditional hi-fi purists—who often critique its closed ecosystem and past efforts like the iPod Hi-Fi as underwhelming—its products command loyalty for sonic refinement, computational audio processing, and design excellence, positioning it as a mid-to-high-tier contender for savvy buyers prioritizing convenience over boutique esoterica.
