Offered is „Passion PRE550 MKII Vorstufe“ by YBA as second-hand device from the category „Pre-Amplifier / Processor“ on audio-markt.de - the online market place for high-end. The advert with the number 1991293027 ends on 26.12.2026 at 15:46 o'clock.
The YBA Passion PRE550 MKII is a serious, unusually well-equipped preamp/DAC, and at €3,900 it looks like a strong deal rather than merely fair value. Your 28-listing sample puts the median at €4,032 and the 25th percentile at €3,984, so this sits just below the lower-quartile mark—an attractive entry price for a clean example.
Its appeal is versatility: a warm, immediate presentation, balanced and single-ended analogue connectivity, and a comprehensive digital section covering USB, AES/EBU, BNC, optical, coaxial and I2S. The dual linear power supplies and substantial 12 kg chassis reinforce its high-end ambitions. At this money, confirm the remote, DAC inputs, display and volume control all work, but there is no pricing reason to hesitate over a good-condition unit.

Founded in 1981 by Yves Bernard André, an electronics professor, YBA emerged from France as a beacon of passionate hi-fi innovation. André's designs embodied a quintessentially French flair—quirky yet brilliant—prioritizing simplicity, durability, and unadulterated musicality that captivated journalists and audiophiles alike. This heritage of precision and purity propelled the brand through decades of acclaim, earning international awards while steadfastly pursuing the ideal of sound so transparent it fades into the music itself.
YBA specializes in high-end electronics, with a core focus on amplifiers, preamplifiers, integrated amps, CD players, DACs, phono stages, and streaming devices across ranges like Design, Heritage, Passion, Signature, and Genesis. Custom French-made components such as connectors, transformers, cables, resistors, and solder underscore their commitment to reliability. While not delving into speakers, turntables, or headphones, their catalog emphasizes amplification and digital sources that deliver clarity and extraordinary musical engagement.
Positioned firmly in the high-end market, YBA blends boutique French design ethos with robust manufacturing scale, following Shanling's 2009 acquisition that preserved André's involvement and relaunched the brand internationally in 2012. Today, products remain "Designed in France, made with Passion," commanding respect among discerning buyers for their aesthetic appeal and sonic refinement, though production largely occurs in China. This evolution secures YBA's enduring niche as a sought-after name in premium hi-fi.
