Seller's Description

Genelec 8250 Studio Monitors I got my Genelec 8250 Studio monitors for sale, I have used them for a while and have served me well, I liked everything about them but I have now changed my setup so I am looking at selling these so someone else can enjoy them instead of me just putting them into storage. Have original boxes and all that, but pickup is preferred but I will entertain the thought of posting them if I can't find someone locally to buy them, any other questions just message me. Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Because this is a 8250-series Genelec, timing matters: these are older active monitors, and the key question is whether you’re buying a well-kept classic or something close to a service bill. At A$4,500, the asking price looks fair-to-strong rather than cheap; without a clean local AUD comp for this exact model, I’d treat it as reasonable if the pair is genuinely very good and fully functional, but not an automatic bargain.

What makes them worth a look is the Genelec house sound: precise imaging, very even tonality, and the kind of honest low-volume to high-level consistency that suits nearfield and mastering use. A clean, original pair with intact amps, drivers, and accessories is the real upside here, especially if they’ve been used in a smoke-free studio and can be auditioned. For older Genelec actives, I’d still verify that both speakers power up cleanly, stay quiet, and include any required mounting or calibration bits.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Genelec

Genelec Oy traces its roots to 1978 in the small Finnish town of Iisalmi, where engineers Ilpo Martikainen and Topi Partanen co-founded the company. It began with a 1976 commission from the Finnish Broadcasting Corporation to design active studio monitors for their Helsinki headquarters, leading to the flagship S30 model—a pioneering speaker with advanced amplification, driver protection, and a proprietary ribbon tweeter that set new benchmarks in precision audio.

The brand specializes in active loudspeaker systems, focusing on professional studio monitors for recording, mixing, mastering, broadcast, and film production. Genelec's portfolio emphasizes nearfield, midfield, and main monitors, often enhanced by innovations like Smart Active Monitoring (SAM), Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM) software for room calibration, and immersive audio solutions. While primarily pro-oriented, their products appeal to discerning home audiophiles seeking uncolored, adaptable sound reproduction.

Genelec holds a commanding position as a high-end leader in professional audio monitoring, renowned for Finnish engineering excellence, technological firsts, and unwavering neutrality. Over four decades, it has equipped the world's top studios, earning a reputation for reliability, innovation, and sustainable design that discerning hi-fi buyers trust for truthful sound without compromise.
