This looks like a fair ask, but not an obvious bargain. The D5 Pro is generally a clone of the darTZeel NHB-108 rather than an original darTZeel product, and comparable new-import examples have appeared around €450–€850, making €699 reasonable for an excellent-condition, proven unit—but not unusually cheap.
Its appeal is straightforward: substantial output, a smooth, full-bodied presentation, and plenty of drive for most speakers, with the dual-mono-style layout and generous power supply adding to its enthusiast interest. At this price, verify the exact builder and version, mains voltage, RCA/XLR operation, and that the substantial amplifier is quiet under load. If it includes the original case, accessories, and a reliable return option, it becomes a particularly sensible way into the D5 Pro design.
Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.
darTZeel: Swiss Precision Engineering for Discerning Audiophiles
darTZeel Audio SA was founded by Hervé Delétraz in Switzerland, with the brand name itself an anagram of the founder's surname. The company emerged from a philosophy rooted in humanistic design principles, viewing music as a medium for soul expression and spiritual development rather than mere entertainment. This foundational ethos has guided the Geneva-based manufacturer's evolution into a respected name in high-fidelity audio, with the iconic NHB-108 monoblock amplifier first presented in New York in 2002 establishing the brand's early reputation for excellence.
The brand is primarily known for reference-grade amplification, including both monoblock and integrated designs that have garnered universal acclaim from professional reviewers. Beyond amplifiers, darTZeel has expanded into digital audio with innovative products like the LHC-208, a "danalogue" integrated unit combining streaming, DAC, and amplification capabilities with support for high-resolution formats up to DSD256. The company's manufacturing approach emphasizes meticulous CNC-machined aluminum casework and sophisticated assembly, with products instantly recognizable by their distinctive industrial design.
darTZeel occupies the ultra-premium, boutique segment of the high-end audio market, positioning itself as a reference-quality manufacturer for discerning collectors and serious enthusiasts. The brand's reputation rests on uncompromising engineering, limited production runs, and a commitment to sonic purity that has made its components aspirational within audiophile circles. Recent expansion into North America through darTZeel America Inc. signals the brand's continued growth while maintaining its exclusive positioning in the luxury audio landscape.
