PREOWNED – FULLY TESTED – COMPLETE AND IN GREAT CONDITION
The MOON 110LP v2 Phono Preamplifier by Simaudio is a compact, high-performance solid-state phono stage designed for both Moving Magnet (MM) and Moving Coil (MC) cartridges.
Key Features & Design
• Chassis & Build: Rigid, all-aluminum compact enclosure measuring 5.0 x 1.65 x 6.5 inches (12.7 x 4.2 x 16.5 cm) and weighing 3.3 lbs (1.5 kg).
• Circuitry: Features a mirror-image symmetrical circuit layout, a 4-layer pure copper PCB for low impedance, and inductive DC filtering to significantly reduce the noise floor.
• Power Supply: Uses a 24V external AC/switch-mode power supply and is designed to remain powered on continuously for optimal thermal stability and sonic performance.
• Controls: Underside-mounted DIP switches allow adjustment without cluttering the front panel, and Simaudio includes a small plastic “dipstick” tool to make switching easier.
User-Adjustable Parameters
You can configure four main settings via the bottom DIP switches
• Gain Levels: 40dB, 50dB, 54dB, 60dB, and 66dB
• Input Impedance (Resistance): 10Ω, 100Ω, 475Ω, and 47kΩ
• Input Capacitance: 0pF, 100pF, 330pF, and 430pF
• Equalization Curve: Selectable between RIAA and IEC curves
Factory Rules of Thumb
• For Typical MM Cartridges:
• Gain: 40dB
• Curve: RIAA
• Resistance: 47kΩ
• Capacitance: 100pF
• For Typical MC Cartridges:
• Gain: 60dB
• Curve: RIAA
• Resistance: 475Ω
• Capacitance: 0pF
This is a strong deal at US$420: it sits below the recent comparable 25th-percentile price of US$426 and well under the US$447 median. For a clearly identified 110LP V2, that is a bargain rather than merely a fair ask, assuming it is fully functional.
The 110LP V2 remains a highly capable, flexible phono stage, with adjustable gain for MM and MC cartridges, selectable loading and capacitance, and a clean, low-noise presentation. Its smooth, refined sound and strong imaging make it an easy partner for a wide range of turntables, while the unusually comprehensive cartridge matching is valuable if you plan to change cartridges later. At this price, confirm the 24V power supply, RCA connectors, and underside DIP-switches are present and working, but there is no reason to push back on value.

Moon by Simaudio traces its roots to 1980, when Victor Sima, an audio engineer who emigrated from Israel to Canada, founded Sima Electronique in Quebec with a deliberate mission to craft superior-sounding audio products at accessible prices. Initially targeting professionals, the brand quickly won over audiophiles for its value and sonic excellence. Sima retired in 1994, selling to Jean Poulin, whose leadership elevated the company; by the late 1990s, the premium MOON series emerged from the successful Celeste line, embodying innovation and engineering precision while remaining privately held for unwavering control.
The brand specializes in high-performance electronics, excelling in integrated and power amplifiers, preamplifiers, DACs, and streaming solutions that prioritize musicality and build quality. Hand-assembled in-house with custom chassis and rigorous burn-in testing, MOON products span reference-grade separates to all-in-one systems like the ACE, alongside multi-channel AV amplifiers. While not venturing into speakers, turntables, headphones, or cables, their focus on pure analog and digital playback delivers cosmic precision and futuristic design.
Positioned firmly in the high-end market, Moon by Simaudio commands respect among discerning buyers for its clear, natural sound that makes music visceral rather than tweaky. Exported to 45 countries with accolades from Stereophile and The Absolute Sound, it rejects mass-market compromises, offering approachable luxury that bridges specialist hi-fi with broader appeal—vibrantly successful today as a Canadian benchmark for uncompromising performance.
