Seller's Description

Linn Majik 140 Floorstanding Loudspeakers Linn Majik 140 Speakers with Aluminium Bases.    I bought these from a dealer, ex-demo in 2016.  They have a few small marks; one on the front grill and a couple of very small ones on the enclosures. The plastic cover has come off one of the terminals, but it still screws up if you're using spades. - see photos. I had the aluminium bases made.  They are bigger and heavier than the optional Linn aluminium bases and are a significant upgrade.  They weigh about 10kg each. The speakers come with: Aluminium bases Original bases Bolts and washers for the bas

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

With unknown condition on this used Linn Majik 140 pair listed at AUD$1,600, that's a cautious fair ask—sitting right in the median of recent comps at AUD$1,330 (25th percentile AUD$1,080, 75th AUD$1,725). Linn's robust build holds value well, but without photos or service history, it leans ambitious if there's wear; pristine examples can push toward the upper end, while scuffed drivers drag it lower.

Buyers, verify driver integrity first—Majik 140s suffer foam surround degradation over 15+ years, muddying bass. Insist on original grilles, spikes, and serial-matched pairs; test for cabinet resonances or crossover hum. Grab measurements and a home audition to confirm imaging matches Linn's signature clarity.

About Linn

Linn Products: Brand Overview

Linn Products was founded in 1973 by Scottish engineer Ivor Tiefenbrun in Glasgow as a vehicle to manufacture the Sondek LP12 turntable, which would become the company's most iconic product and a cornerstone of high-fidelity audio. The brand emerged during the golden era of British hi-fi with a revolutionary "source first" philosophy—challenging the prevailing industry belief that loudspeakers mattered most by demonstrating that superior sound quality begins with the audio source. This foundational principle has guided the company's engineering ethos for over five decades.

Linn's product portfolio spans the complete hi-fi chain, from turntables and tonearms to preamplifiers, power amplifiers, and loudspeakers. The company introduced the world's first microprocessor-controlled preamplifier and power amplifier in 1985 (the LK1 and LK2), establishing itself as an electronics specialist. From 2007 onward, Linn pivoted toward digital music streaming, becoming an early adopter of network-based audio playback supporting studio master-quality recordings at 24-bit/192 kHz resolution, and discontinued CD player production in 2009 to focus on this strategic direction.

Linn occupies the high-end segment of the audio market, commanding respect among discerning audiophiles and collectors for its uncompromising engineering approach and longevity. The brand's reputation rests on meticulous product design, acoustic isolation principles, and a commitment to eliminating weak links in the signal chain—a philosophy that has made Linn one of the most influential manufacturers in hi-fi history and a benchmark for quality-focused audio engineering.
