Seller's Description

Acoustic Energy AE100 Mk2 Bookshelf Loudspeakers Great little bookshelf speakers, bought new from Vision HiFi in Goodwood SA, 2 years ago.   Excellent condition, original box and packaging supplied.   Selling as I’ve just purchased larger bookshelf speakers (still breaking in, but wonder if it was worth it.. ). However, I will be sad to let these go, as they excellent especially at lower volume levels.    Local pick up by purchaser or will post via Australia Post or can drop off at local Pack n Send Norwood, at the buyer’s expense.   For reference, the carton size is 44 x 38 (H) x 34 cm. Our Thoughts RADAR AI

A$300 is a little above the typical used market, but still close enough to read as fair rather than expensive. With recent comparable AUD listings clustering around A$295 to A$298, this sits just over the median and only marginally beyond the 75th percentile, so it’s not a red flag for a clean pair in excellent shape.

That’s what makes this one worth a look: these are well-regarded compact standmounts with a lively, open presentation and very good imaging for the size. In excellent condition, the appeal is that you’re buying a model known to scale well with decent amplification and placement, without the usual used-speaker worries if the tweeters, surrounds, and cabinets are intact. If the listing includes grilles and original packaging, that’s a nice bonus; otherwise, I’d still consider it a sensible buy at this price.

About Acoustic Energy

Acoustic Energy, a British hi-fi icon, traces its roots to London, England, where founder Phil Jones established the company on April 4, 1987, initially as Eldonfield Limited. The brand's debut came swiftly with the legendary AE1 compact loudspeaker, a compact monitor that shattered expectations by delivering dynamics, power, and clarity rivaling far larger high-end designs. Relocating to Cirencester in the Cotswolds by 1994—and solidifying its base there since 1995—the firm has remained proudly UK-owned, blending over a century of directors' audio expertise with a commitment to innovation and quality.

The brand centers on loudspeakers as its core strength, from the iconic AE1 to modern standmounts, floorstanders, and entry-level models that expanded via strategic partnerships. While it ventured briefly into electronics like Bluetooth speakers and WiFi radios, Acoustic Energy excels in speaker design, prioritizing compact enclosures with exceptional performance. It avoids diversification into amplifiers, turntables, DACs, headphones, or cables, staying true to its loudspeaker heritage.

Renowned worldwide, Acoustic Energy commands respect as a mid-tier powerhouse, earning hundreds of awards from hi-fi press over three decades for value-driven excellence. Positioned for discerning buyers seeking British engineering without ultra-premium pricing, it delivers pedigree sound that punches above its weight, securing a loyal following among knowledgeable enthusiasts who prize clarity, dynamics, and enduring build quality.
