Seller's Description

Linn Akurate DSM Streamer/DAC Purchased from SNA recently whilst my Esoteric was out of action and always wanted to try a Linn. Sound is typical British, with excellent vocal emotions, clear of digital artifacts, and good top to bottom extension. The Linn apps was easy to use, supports Roon endpoint, and has a phono in (I didn't try this). Very useable and good sounding device.    It even measured well. Current listing    Package contains - Linn Akurate DSM - a box (not original), shipping possible - remote  Condition: Used, but excellent Payment Method: Paypal, EFT, Cash on Pickup Region/Stat

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

At A$2,500, this sits below the A$2,491 25th percentile by a hair and well under the A$3,743 median, so it reads as a strong buy rather than a merely fair one. Against the recent comp set, it is priced at the low end of the market, which makes it appealing if you want the model without paying up for the usual asking-price premium.

That’s especially attractive because this is a well-regarded Linn streaming DAC/preamp: musical, tightly controlled, and still very competitive if the rest of your system is up to it. In excellent condition, the upside is obvious—good units tend to hold value, and a clean example at this level is the kind of listing that disappears quickly. If the original remote, box, and firmware/app support are all in order, it looks like a properly sensible used buy.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Linn

Linn Products: Brand Overview

Linn Products was founded in 1973 by Scottish engineer Ivor Tiefenbrun in Glasgow as a vehicle to manufacture the Sondek LP12 turntable, which would become the company's most iconic product and a cornerstone of high-fidelity audio. The brand emerged during the golden era of British hi-fi with a revolutionary "source first" philosophy—challenging the prevailing industry belief that loudspeakers mattered most by demonstrating that superior sound quality begins with the audio source. This foundational principle has guided the company's engineering ethos for over five decades.

Linn's product portfolio spans the complete hi-fi chain, from turntables and tonearms to preamplifiers, power amplifiers, and loudspeakers. The company introduced the world's first microprocessor-controlled preamplifier and power amplifier in 1985 (the LK1 and LK2), establishing itself as an electronics specialist. From 2007 onward, Linn pivoted toward digital music streaming, becoming an early adopter of network-based audio playback supporting studio master-quality recordings at 24-bit/192 kHz resolution, and discontinued CD player production in 2009 to focus on this strategic direction.

Linn occupies the high-end segment of the audio market, commanding respect among discerning audiophiles and collectors for its uncompromising engineering approach and longevity. The brand's reputation rests on meticulous product design, acoustic isolation principles, and a commitment to eliminating weak links in the signal chain—a philosophy that has made Linn one of the most influential manufacturers in hi-fi history and a benchmark for quality-focused audio engineering.
