Seller's Description

Naim Audio Hi-Cap Power Supply We have a trade-in unit available of an older version of the Naim HiCap (that is the non DR version).    This is the perfect unit to pair with a range of Naim products to dramatically improve their performance.   Included is a SNAIC cable and a Mains cable. This unit does not come with a box.    I was absolutely astounded the difference it made when we paired it with a Naim Supernait. So much more detail and depth to the music. The change was evident from the very first note. Condition: Perfect Payment Method: Paypal, EFT, Cash on Pickup, credit cards Region/Stat

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

It's a buyer's market for used Naim power supplies like the HICAP right now, with steady supply from upgrades chasing modern streaming rigs. At AUD$1,500 for unknown condition, this listing feels ambitious—our recent comps peg the median at AUD$1,150, with 25th-75th percentiles spanning AUD$1,068 to AUD$1,315. Without clear signs of refurb or low hours, you're paying a 30% premium over fair value; hold out unless it's pristine.

Before biting, verify the age and service history—Naim caps from the '90s-2000s often need recap jobs (AUD$400-600 at a specialist) due to failing electrolytics causing hum or shutdowns. Insist on original DC cable, feet, and input selector if applicable; test all rails (5V, +/-15V) under load for regulation dropouts. Skip if no receipts.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Naim Audio

Naim Audio, a cornerstone of British hi-fi excellence, traces its origins to 1973 when Julian Vereker, a self-taught engineer, racing driver, and music enthusiast, formally incorporated the company in Salisbury, Wiltshire. Vereker's journey began earlier, in 1969, experimenting with tape recording and sound-to-light boxes before designing his first power amplifier in 1971. Amid the British hi-fi industry's recession, he secured a pivotal contract with Capital Radio, blending entrepreneurial grit with a passion for authentic sound reproduction that challenged conventional wisdom.

The brand specializes in premium integrated amplifiers, power amplifiers, preamplifiers, digital streamers, DACs, and compact music systems, often featuring built-in amplification for streamlined setups. While not delving into speakers—beyond a historical foray—or headphones and turntables, Naim emphasizes modular, upgradable components that prioritize pace, rhythm, and timing (PRaT), a signature sonic philosophy rooted in the "source first" approach alongside contemporaries like Linn.

Naim holds a commanding position in the high-end market, revered by discerning audiophiles for its handmade, innovative systems that deliver emotional musical engagement over mere specifications. Now part of VerVent Audio Group following a 2011 merger with Focal, it exports to over 45 countries, sustaining a cult following for resilient, influential designs that transcend economic cycles.
