Our Thoughts RADAR AI

At A$2,100, the asking price for these used Dynaudio HALES is hard to benchmark without confirming the exact model, as the listing title lacks the specificity found in comparable market entries like the Heritage Specials or Focus series. At this price point, you are typically looking at entry-level Dynaudio bookshelf speakers or older Contour models in used condition, so without more detail, the value is ambiguous.

If these are indeed rare or well-regarded HALES (a specific Dynaudio model), their worth depends heavily on condition and included accessories; Dynaudio speakers are generally well-loved for their balanced sound and solid build. Verify the model number, check for driver wear or cabinet damage, and confirm original cables or stands are included to determine if this is a genuine buying opportunity or an overpriced gamble.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Dynaudio

Dynaudio is a Danish loudspeaker manufacturer founded in 1977 in Skanderborg by acoustic engineers Wilfried Ehrenholz and Mark Thorup, alongside co-founder Ivan Scarning Geard. The company emerged from a conviction that off-the-shelf speakers of the era failed to reproduce music authentically. From its inception, Dynaudio has maintained vertical integration, designing and manufacturing its own drivers rather than sourcing components externally—a practice that remains central to the brand's identity and quality control.

The company specializes exclusively in loudspeakers and speaker systems across two primary markets: high-fidelity consumer audio and professional studio monitoring. Dynaudio's consumer division produces reference-grade speakers for discerning listeners, while its professional subsidiary, Dynaudio Acoustics, manufactures studio monitors installed in more than ten thousand recording studios worldwide. The brand has earned particular distinction as a reference monitor choice for BBC Radio & Music, underscoring its credibility in professional environments.

Dynaudio occupies the high-end segment of the audio market, positioning itself among premium manufacturers rather than mass-market producers. The brand's reputation rests on uncompromising engineering philosophy—prioritizing authentic driver design over superficial aesthetics—and consistent innovation in loudspeaker technology. Since its acquisition by Chinese electronics company Goertek in 2014, Dynaudio has maintained its Danish heritage and manufacturing practices while expanding its global reach. For knowledgeable buyers, Dynaudio represents a convergence of Scandinavian design sensibility, technical rigor, and professional-grade performance in the consumer hi-fi space.
