Seller's Description

Meze Audio Empyrean Headphones - Over/On Ear Recently purchased the Meze Empyrean II from another StereoNet member and whilst there are advantages to both, I do prefer the II's so will let my OG Empyrean's go to another owner to enjoy.   These are the Jet Black version and are in excellent condition. I am not the first owner as they were purchased via StereoNet in Nov 2022, but I can provide a scan of the receipt in JPG format (purchased from Sydney Hi-fi in Sep 2022) that was given to me by the original owner.   Note that this price also includes the official Meze Silver-plated Premium Cable

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

This is a bit ambitious, mainly because the asking price of A$3,300 sits above the local 75th percentile of A$3,681? No — on your own comparable set, it is actually above the median A$2,704 but still below the 75th percentile A$3,681, so it reads as a fair-to-strong ask, not a bargain and not overpriced.

The timing matters because this is a known, established flagship rather than a fast-changing model, so value is mostly about condition and completeness rather than chasing the newest thing. The Empyrean is widely liked for its relaxed, spacious presentation, easy driveability, and luxurious build, which makes it a rewarding long-session headphone if you want high-end listening without the usual fatigue. In excellent condition, this is most compelling if it includes the original case, cable set, and pads, since those accessories preserve resale value and day-one usefulness.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Meze Audio

Meze Audio traces its roots to 2011, when Romanian industrial designer Antonio Meze founded the company in the northern city of Baia Mare. Born from his passion for music and innovative design, Meze initially launched under the name Meze Headphones before evolving into Meze Audio. This heritage reflects a blend of Eastern European craftsmanship and a drive to elevate personal audio beyond conventional boundaries.

The brand specializes exclusively in headphones and earphones, eschewing amplifiers, speakers, or other hi-fi categories. Iconic models like the Empyrean, developed in collaboration with Ukrainian engineers at Rinaro for advanced planar magnetic drivers, exemplify their focus on planar and dynamic designs. Standouts such as the 99 Classics, 109 Pro, and more accessible options like the 105 AER deliver signature bass authority, spacious soundstaging, and meticulous tuning tailored for discerning listeners.

Meze Audio commands a strong position in the high-end headphone market as a niche boutique leader, prized by audiophiles for striking industrial aesthetics and reference-grade performance. Their products have garnered design awards, rave reviews from major publications, and a global following through word-of-mouth and retail channels, positioning them as a force that challenges premium pricing norms with unwavering quality.
