Stereophile listed the VK-5 at A$3,995 at launch, and later noted the VK-5i without remote sat around A$4,000, with remote adding more, so this asking price lands right in the zone where a well-kept example belongs.
The appeal here is the BAT house sound: fully balanced, muscular, and very expressive, with real drive and scale rather than a soft “tube” caricature. For a clean excellent example, that makes it a credible buy if you want a serious linestage with good resale gravity and a proper high-end pedigree; bonus points if it has the remote, original boxes, or recent tube service, since those details materially improve the value on older BAT gear.
