Spendor Classic 1/2 Standmount Loudspeakers I purchased these one week ago. I visited a store to audition larger JBL speakers that retail for $30k but I did not get on with the sound. I listened to these and when I returned home I could not shake how beautiful they sounded so the next day I want to buy them. They come as new with all boxes etc. I am selling as I flew to Hobart last week and auditioned the Superwax which I feel will be a more all around long term solution for me. I have no doubt that the Superwax will not do the “beauty” the Spendors do but my room is massive and the trade offs
This is a seller’s market at the asking level: A$9,000 sits well above the recent comparable median of A$6,717 and also clears the 75th percentile of A$7,339, so it reads as ambitious rather than fair. Against that benchmark, I’d only pay this if the listing has unusually strong provenance, exceptional cosmetics, or something else that materially separates it from the recent comps.
That said, the model is well regarded for its natural midrange, easy listening balance, and forgiving but resolved presentation, so a clean like-new pair has real appeal if you value long-session enjoyment over flash. The upside is strongest if it’s a complete, original-owner set with grills, stands, and packaging; otherwise, at A$9,000, I’d want a very smooth inspection and proof that everything is exactly as represented.
