Seller's Description

Pass Labs XA 30.8 Class A 30wpc Power Amplifier I purchased this unit 2+ years ago from Mcleans on NSW Central Coast, first owner.  I was thrilled by it although once I installed the Trio 11s active speakers, I was smitten. As outlined in previous listings, I transformed from AMP/Speaker with Focal 1008 BEs to Focal Trio 11s active studio monitors a couple of years ago. I assumed I would go back to the AMP/Speakers...hasnt happened. Its been boxed for the past 2 years, not a mark on it, suit new buyer   I will deliver this in person between Canberra and Newcastle.   Happy to negotiate postage

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

With unknown condition, this AUD7,400 asking price for the Pass Labs XA30.8 leaves room for a steal if it's clean and fully functional, but demands caution—buyers often pay a premium for verified low-use examples. Against our recent comps (median AUD7,859, range AUD7,610–8,108), it's a bargain at the low end, undercutting the 25th percentile, assuming no hidden gremlins like tired bias circuits or cosmetic dings that could eat into savings.

Before biting, insist on a power-up video showing both channels clean, no hum or buzz from the pure Class A amps, and stable bias LEDs—Pass gear runs hot, so check for service history to avoid costly recap jobs. Verify original binding posts, manual, and crate if included; missing bits drop resale value fast.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Pass Labs

Pass Labs, an American high-end audio powerhouse, traces its origins to 1991 when legendary designer Nelson Pass founded the company in his California home workshop. Emerging from his earlier venture with Threshold Electronics, Pass pioneered prototypes of single-ended Class A amplifiers, enlisting collaborator Mike Burley to build custom CNC machines for production. The debut Aleph 0 model shipped in 1992, marking the start of a legacy rooted in pure, innovative solid-state amplification.

The brand focuses intently on a select range of components, excelling in power amplifiers, preamplifiers, integrated amplifiers, and phono stages, all hand-built in Auburn, California. Renowned for minimalist circuits and pure Class A topologies—often blending into Class A/B for efficiency—Pass Labs delivers exceptional warmth, detail, and realism. While they ventured briefly into headphone amplifiers like the HPA-1, their core strength lies in amplification, eschewing speakers, turntables, DACs, headphones, or cables.

Positioned firmly in the ultra-high-end market, Pass Labs commands reverence among discerning audiophiles and professionals for its uncompromising engineering, industrial aesthetic, and emotional musicality. Products embody technical precision with timeless simplicity, sustaining a reputation for quality and innovation that has endured over three decades, making them a benchmark for those seeking transcendent sound reproduction.
