Is A$3,650 the right money for a clean S150 MK2 trio? For a like-new set in the current market, it looks fair to slightly firm, not cheap: these are premium THX-style monitors with serious build and studio/home-theatre pedigree, and new pricing is far higher than this. If the set is complete and genuinely pristine, I’d read this as a sensible buy rather than a bargain-bin score.
What you’re paying for here is the M&K strength: fast, precise dialogue, very even front-stage imaging, and the ability to play loud without sounding strained. They’re especially strong for cinema and multichannel setups, where their clarity and dynamics really pay off. The upside is good condition and likely long-term satisfaction if you want a reference-style front stage. Just confirm grilles, any stands/brackets, and that all three speakers are cosmetically and sonically identical.
