Seller's Description

Naim 282 superlink preamp superlink is a mod to allow the 282 to make use of a supercap effectively making it similar in sound to a Naim 252. Come with a Morgana superlink cable specially made for me by John Jackson (witch hat now jjs) who originally modded the 282. Also included is the original superlink cable, the naspc power supply the superlink instructions. The 282 is in good overall condition

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

The NAC 282 remains a respected sweet spot in Naim’s preamp range: musical, fast, and very revealing without getting sterile. At £2,000, this one sits above your comparable market median of £1,646 and also above the £1,604 25th percentile, so it reads as ambitious rather than a bargain. It is not wildly out of line, but it is priced at a premium to the recent run of listings.

If the condition is genuinely good, the appeal is the preamp itself: strong rhythm, excellent drive, and a presentation that tends to make a system feel more alive. The upside here is mainly for a buyer who wants a clean, ready-to-run example and values Naim’s long-term reputation; at this price, I’d want to see recent service history, original packaging, and any relevant accessories to justify paying up.

About Naim Audio

Naim Audio, a cornerstone of British hi-fi excellence, traces its origins to 1973 when Julian Vereker, a self-taught engineer, racing driver, and music enthusiast, formally incorporated the company in Salisbury, Wiltshire. Vereker's journey began earlier, in 1969, experimenting with tape recording and sound-to-light boxes before designing his first power amplifier in 1971. Amid the British hi-fi industry's recession, he secured a pivotal contract with Capital Radio, blending entrepreneurial grit with a passion for authentic sound reproduction that challenged conventional wisdom.

The brand specializes in premium integrated amplifiers, power amplifiers, preamplifiers, digital streamers, DACs, and compact music systems, often featuring built-in amplification for streamlined setups. While not delving into speakers—beyond a historical foray—or headphones and turntables, Naim emphasizes modular, upgradable components that prioritize pace, rhythm, and timing (PRaT), a signature sonic philosophy rooted in the "source first" approach alongside contemporaries like Linn.

Naim holds a commanding position in the high-end market, revered by discerning audiophiles for its handmade, innovative systems that deliver emotional musical engagement over mere specifications. Now part of VerVent Audio Group following a 2011 merger with Focal, it exports to over 45 countries, sustaining a cult following for resilient, influential designs that transcend economic cycles.
