Seller's Description

Paradigm Millenia Subwoofer (Active / Powered) This relatively compact sub can stand vertically or horizontally, giving more options for placement than most. It is versatile, working well in a HT setup or in a 2.1 system in a medium sized room. It's had one owner, been lightly used, works faultlessly and in generally good unmarked condition, although when I moved it to photograph I noticed that some 'sticky plastic syndrome' has developed on the stand-up base and the end caps. This is a bit tacky to touch but has no effect on performance or SQ. Also included are a Paradigm Perfect Base Kit (PB

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Paradigm’s SUB 2 sits near the top of the brand’s subwoofer line, so this is a serious piece of kit rather than a casual add-on. At A$980, it’s well above the local benchmark: recent comparable AUD listings put the median at A$490, with the 75th percentile at A$720. That makes this an ambitious ask rather than a fair-market deal, especially with condition listed as unknown.

If you want one, you’re paying for scale, output and the sort of low-end authority that can anchor a big room or home-theater setup. The SUB 2 is prized for deep extension and brute-force control, so a clean example with proof of health can still be worth chasing. But at this price, I’d want confirmation of full working order, no amp or driver issues, and ideally original packaging or accessories before considering it seriously.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Paradigm

Paradigm Electronics was founded in 1982 in the suburbs of Toronto, Canada, by Scott Bagby, a pioneering loudspeaker designer, and Jerry VanderMarel, a consumer electronics veteran. With input from Jerry's brother Bill, they revolutionized speaker design by integrating scientific acoustics research from the National Research Council of Canada and rigorous listening tests. From humble beginnings, Paradigm rapidly expanded, opening its Paradigm Advanced Research Center in 1993 and earning early accolades like the 1990 Best Price/Value Award, cementing its innovative heritage.

The brand focuses primarily on high-performance loudspeakers, including iconic models like the Atom and Monitor series, alongside premium lines such as Signature. Paradigm controls its entire production process in a massive 225,000-square-foot facility outside Toronto, manufacturing drivers, cabinets, and components in-house for unmatched precision. While best known for freestanding and architectural speakers, it has ventured into electronics through sister brands like Anthem, emphasizing value-driven hi-fi without straying into turntables, DACs, headphones, or cables.

Paradigm holds a strong mid-to-high-end position in the global market, renowned for delivering audiophile-grade sound at accessible prices. A bestseller across six continents, it commands significant shares in freestanding (No. 6) and architectural speakers among top integrators. Repurchased by founder Scott Bagby in 2019, Paradigm upholds its commitment to the "Paradigm Sound"—transparent, dynamic audio that punches above its weight, appealing to discerning buyers seeking Canadian craftsmanship over boutique exclusivity.
