Seller's Description

Systemdek IV Turntable This was a Systemdek IV electronic owned by my father but the original motor and electronic control no longer worked and was in storage for a while.  I replaced the motor with an Origin Live Advanced Speed Control box with upgraded power supply.  Speed control for 33/45 can be adjusted at the back of the speed control box. The turntable is in excellent condition and the arm board is cut for the older style Rega or Origin Live arm.  I have tried it with an Origin Live Conqueror arm.     I don't have the box for it and due to its weight due to its heavy platter it is colle

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

A$750 for an excellent-condition Origin Live Systemdek IV sits right at the median of the typical used market, which ranges from A$500 to A$800, making this a fair and honest price rather than a bargain. Recent listings show one at A$500 and another converting to A$750, confirming the asking price aligns with current demand for this well-maintained model.

This turntable is well-regarded for its exceptional musicality and smooth, analog presentation, offering a significant upgrade over budget decks without requiring costly modifications. Buying an excellent-condition unit from an original owner is a smart opportunity, as it likely includes the original belt and platter mat, ensuring immediate performance. At a fair price with no noted condition issues, this represents a solid buying opportunity for enthusiasts seeking reliable, high-quality sound.

About Origin Live

Origin Live traces its roots to 1986 in Southampton, UK, when audio enthusiast Mark Baker, a former warship designer, founded the company initially as Cable Design in his garage. The debut product was a pioneering solid-core hi-fi cable, followed swiftly by equipment supports and a name change to Origin Live—evoking the goal of hearing the original source as played live. Over three decades, it evolved from humble tinkering into a dedicated factory operation with CNC machinery and skilled staff, exporting to over 40 countries.

The brand excels in analog replay, renowned for high-performance turntables like the Voyager series and Aurora Mark II, alongside innovative tonearms such as the MkV range with multi-layer counterweights for superior vibration control. It also offers phono stages, speaker stands, platforms, upgrades, and select loudspeakers including the Astute model, emphasizing in-house design for musical fidelity over mass production.

Positioned as a niche boutique in the high-end hi-fi market, Origin Live commands respect among vinyl purists for its award-winning products—from early Hi-Fi Choice triumphs to ongoing acclaim in publications like Analog Planet and Stereo Times. While not a household name like Rega, its distinctive, ambitious analog focus appeals to discerning buyers seeking authentic, live-like sound reproduction.
