Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Compared with just buying a generic used faceplate or hunting for a whole donor unit, US$399 is only easy to justify if this is the exact, hard-to-find piece you need. Without a clearer model match, the price is a bit hard to benchmark; for a cosmetic replacement part, it feels more like a “pay for scarcity” number than an obvious bargain.

That said, original Acurus parts do matter to collectors and to anyone trying to keep an amp looking right, and these older black-faced pieces don’t turn up every day. If the faceplate is straight, the lettering is intact, and the mounting points are clean, the real value is in saving a nice chassis from a mismatched front end. I’d want exact dimensions and close photos before paying that much.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Acurus

Acurus emerged in 1993 from Mondial Designs in the United States, positioned as a more accessible counterpart to the acclaimed Aragon brand. Created to deliver high-end performance through minimalist designs, premium specifications, and made-in-America manufacturing, it targeted the specialty AV market against pricier imports. In mid-2009, Indy Audio Labs—co-founded by audio engineer Rick Santiago and physicist Ted Moore—acquired Acurus, revitalizing its legacy after a period of dormancy under Klipsch ownership.

The brand specializes in power amplifiers, AV control processors, and immersive home cinema solutions, blending cutting-edge audio technologies with system setup and control features. Recent offerings like the compact M8X and M4X amplifiers underscore its focus on multi-channel power for media rooms, gaming, and high-performance theaters, all engineered with proprietary electronics, robust mechanics, and intuitive software.

Acurus holds a strong reputation for delivering high-end audio at competitive prices, earning trust among discerning buyers for its rock-solid durability, authentic sound reproduction, and five-year warranty. As a premium American marque under Indy Audio Labs in Indianapolis, it occupies a niche in custom installations, appealing to knowledgeable enthusiasts seeking reliable, USA-built excellence without boutique excess.
