Seller's Description

I’m getting back into the audio hobby again. It’s been a lifetime thing for me—I’ve even built my own gear in the past, so I really care about finding that perfect sound. About 15 years ago, I had a full Linn system with the Intek integrated amp and a matching power amp. I loved that setup, and I never forgot how good that Linn gear sounded.Right now, I’m moving toward a "pure passive" setup. I actually have a big Linn Klout amp on the way right now to pair with my passive preamp, so I’m moving this unit to help pay for the next hunt. The Story & How I Used ItI picked this Linn Classik up recently to test out that "Linn sound" in my own room again. Once I got my passive preamp, I actually started using this Linn Classik Movie as the power amplifier for my system. It worked great and gave me that clean, detailed sound I was looking for. I even used it with my Linn Afekt compact active subwoofer, and it did a fantastic job with it. It’s actually what convinced me to go out and buy that big Klout powerhouse I’ve been wanting.Watch the Video!I uploaded a video so you can see it actually working. You’ll see the display is bright and clear, and I cycle through all the inputs to show you the internal logic is 100% healthy. Even though I’m not including a remote with this sale, I tested it with one and the unit responds perfectly to remote commands. What Works (and What Doesn't)I want to be totally honest so we’re on the same page. Visually, I’d call it a 7 out of 10. It looks good on a rack, but it has some normal wear. The Bad: The DVD player doesn't work. It won't read discs and the tray won't open. The Speaker Connection: I use special banana plugs, and I actually had to take some needle-nose pliers and give my plugs a little pinch so they would stay nice and snug in the terminals. I didn't mess with the unit or the terminals themselves; I just crimped my own connectors to get a better fit. Everything works fine and the connection is solid. The Good: Everything else is great. The Preamp, Tuner, and Aux inputs all work perfectly. Even the Surround modes work like they should. Every button on the front works.I only tested it in a 2.1 setup with my sub, but all channels show active. This is a standard US 115v unit.Standard power cord included.Note: This is for the unit only. No remote is included. The "Powerhouse" TestI also used this as a preamp for some big powerhouses like my QSC USA 900, my Audionics CC-2, and a B&K 202. If you know those big pro amps, they can be pretty "hissy," but this Linn was so clean it silenced the noise and made them sound amazing. I listened to it through my Linn Sekrits & Tukans speakers and the detail was awesome.Shipping & TermsThis thing weighs about 25 lbs, and I pack gear for war. I’m going to use double boxes and tons of bubble wrap so it gets to you safe.Shipping: UPS Ground.Terms: Since the disc drive is broken, I’m selling this As-Is with no returns. It’s a killer piece of gear, but please watch the video and look at the pictures so you know exactly what you're getting.I'm just a hobbyist looking for the next big amp. If you want that famous Linn sound, this is a great way to get it without spending a fortune.AUDIOPHILE VALUE: Physically, this unit is an 7/10. Even without the disc drive, you are getting the legendary engineering of a unit that cost nearly $3,000 new. The Class AB Amplifier (75Wpc into 4 ohms / 40Wpc into 8 ohms) sounds worlds better than any modern budget receiver.SHIPPING & TERMS:Weight: Estimated 30 lbs for shipping with extra for packing.Protection: I pack gear like I’m sending it to war. This unit will be triple-bubble-wrapped and double-boxed for absolute security during transit.Cost: Buyer pays actual UPS Ground shipping.As-Is: This is an AS-IS transaction with NO RETURNS.As a lifelong builder and hobbyist, I’ll make sure it arrives safe and ready to play.

About Linn

Linn Products: Brand Overview

Linn Products was founded in 1973 by Scottish engineer Ivor Tiefenbrun in Glasgow as a vehicle to manufacture the Sondek LP12 turntable, which would become the company's most iconic product and a cornerstone of high-fidelity audio. The brand emerged during the golden era of British hi-fi with a revolutionary "source first" philosophy—challenging the prevailing industry belief that loudspeakers mattered most by demonstrating that superior sound quality begins with the audio source. This foundational principle has guided the company's engineering ethos for over five decades.

Linn's product portfolio spans the complete hi-fi chain, from turntables and tonearms to preamplifiers, power amplifiers, and loudspeakers. The company introduced the world's first microprocessor-controlled preamplifier and power amplifier in 1985 (the LK1 and LK2), establishing itself as an electronics specialist. From 2007 onward, Linn pivoted toward digital music streaming, becoming an early adopter of network-based audio playback supporting studio master-quality recordings at 24-bit/192 kHz resolution, and discontinued CD player production in 2009 to focus on this strategic direction.

Linn occupies the high-end segment of the audio market, commanding respect among discerning audiophiles and collectors for its uncompromising engineering approach and longevity. The brand's reputation rests on meticulous product design, acoustic isolation principles, and a commitment to eliminating weak links in the signal chain—a philosophy that has made Linn one of the most influential manufacturers in hi-fi history and a benchmark for quality-focused audio engineering.
