Seller's Description

I’ve owned this Luxman L-309 for the past 15 years. When I purchased it off ebay back then I used it as my main amplifier for my “listening” stereo system. Over time, the amplifier power section died and since then, I’ve been using it as my Pre-Amp only... attached to my Dynaco ST-70 tube amp. It continues to work as a pre-amp beautifully. I just had the whole thing cleaned and the phono stage rebuilt over Christmas (’25) at a cost of $525. Last 2 photos shows it hooked up to my amp as proof of function. Could be a Parts-Farm as well.I ran my ipod as a digital source into my DAC and then into the Luxman via one of the AUX inputs. I also ran my Turntable into the now rebuilt phono stage via one of the two phono inputs and both AUX and PHONO sound amazing. I also attached a bluetooth dongle to one of the other AUX inputs so I can play music from my computer through it. All the tone functions work perfectly. The unit is in Good+ to Excellent condition given its age. I believe it was manufactured in 1975-1976. As such it was built during the Golden Age of Stereo and with superb parts and workmanship. I have babied it since I’ve owned it. It does have one or two very small scratches in the wooden cabinet that I’ve shown in the pictures. The faceplate is in really good shape too. No broken or missing knobs or lettering. The pictures give an excellent overview of how it looks. I sold my tube amp, and no longer need it. Looking for a good home for it. These are going for $1200 just for parts only…. $1600 - $2,300 or so as a functional integrated amp and are mostly shipping from Japan. I figure roughly half that price is fair for this unit as just a preamp... Especially after rebuilding the phono stage. Happy to answer any and all questions. I can post pictures of the interior as well if needed.

About Luxman

Luxman traces its origins to 1925 in Osaka, Japan, when brothers T. Hayakawa and K. Yoshikawa launched a radio equipment division within their Kinsuido picture frame import business, coinciding with Japan's inaugural radio broadcast. Initially importing components, the company soon pivoted to in-house manufacturing of transformers and switches, birthing the Luxman brand and establishing it as one of Japan's oldest electronic component makers. This heritage of precision engineering has endured through ownership shifts, including stints with Alpine and Samsung, before returning to Japanese hands in the early 2000s under dedicated Luxman Corporation.

The brand specializes in luxury high-end audio components, with a storied emphasis on amplifiers—both integrated and power models—preamplifiers, and receivers renowned for their warm, detailed sound. Luxman also produces turntables, CD players, tape decks, and speakers, alongside modern digital offerings like DACs, all handcrafted in Japan with custom parts and dual-mono designs for ultimate fidelity.

Positioned firmly in the high-end market, Luxman commands respect among discerning audiophiles for its timeless aesthetics, uncompromising build quality, and sonic refinement that bridges vintage warmth with cutting-edge performance. Classics like the 1970s CL-32 preamp and 1980s L-507 integrated amplifier fuel its collector appeal, while contemporary lines reaffirm its status as a boutique benchmark for those seeking "Ultimate Fidelity since 1925."
