Luxman RX-102 “SUCKFACE” W/ Audiophile Streaming Servo Face Digital Synthesized Receiver Yes, this receiver is the infamous “SUCKFACE” receiver by Luxman and is in fully working condition. The front panel “sucks-in” when the receiver is powered on and stays in that position until you power the unit off. You have AM/FM, Phono and Aux inputs. In addition, you have an Audiophile grade Bluetooth streaming player built right into this unit. This “SUCKFACE” unit is in excellent condition for a 45-year-old receiver.UPDATES: I have replaced the power cord with a polarized plug which makes this Luxman safer to operate. The bias was reset to specification and the unit was cleaned and tested. An audiophile grade Bluetooth streaming player was installed along with a dedicated power supply. The streaming player turns on/off with the receiver’s power button. Now for the sound. This Luxman sings and the audio is highly customizable with its variable loudness control along with the bass and treble controls. This amazing receiver sounds even better running off the dedicated internal Bluetooth streaming player. The streamer passes music via LDAC over Bluetooth. The LDAC bumps the signal to noise ratio to 127 db. If you don’t know LDAC, it’s included in Android version 8 or greater. Most iPhones also include AAC. LDAC bumps Bluetooth to 990kbps and enables audiophile grade 127dB SNR DAC technology. You now have the ability to have the Best of the best audiophile grade streaming solution built into this receiver. It sounds so good that you will start listening to your entire music collection all over again. Once your phone is paired, it should automatically reconnect without intervention. To use the streaming player, all you do is set the selector switch to AUX input, pair you cell phone via Bluetooth and play your favorite tunes. This “Suckface” is one musical player. In addition to the Bluetooth streaming, you have an app based built-in equalizer so you can tailor the sound to your liking. This beautiful receiver can be the center of your audio system while streaming your favorite tunes right from your cell phone. It works with both Android and iPhones. The pictures tell the entire condition. As for condition, this unit is in fantastic condition with little wear all around. You will find hairline scratches and rub marks on the front faceplate. The last picture is of the top of the unit. In this picture you can see a scratch shown on the lower right. The top cover has light- feet- marks which show up circular swirls. None of this distracts from the fine condition of this receiver. I will include the documentation and simple setup for this Luxman streaming player. This unit will be shipped double boxed and insured. It is a one of a kind and a special piece of history waiting for the right audiophile to come along. Luxman traces its origins to 1925 in Osaka, Japan, when brothers T. Hayakawa and K. Yoshikawa launched a radio equipment division within their Kinsuido picture frame import business, coinciding with Japan's inaugural radio broadcast. Initially importing components, the company soon pivoted to in-house manufacturing of transformers and switches, birthing the Luxman brand and establishing it as one of Japan's oldest electronic component makers. This heritage of precision engineering has endured through ownership shifts, including stints with Alpine and Samsung, before returning to Japanese hands in the early 2000s under dedicated Luxman Corporation.
The brand specializes in luxury high-end audio components, with a storied emphasis on amplifiers—both integrated and power models—preamplifiers, and receivers renowned for their warm, detailed sound. Luxman also produces turntables, CD players, tape decks, and speakers, alongside modern digital offerings like DACs, all handcrafted in Japan with custom parts and dual-mono designs for ultimate fidelity.
Positioned firmly in the high-end market, Luxman commands respect among discerning audiophiles for its timeless aesthetics, uncompromising build quality, and sonic refinement that bridges vintage warmth with cutting-edge performance. Classics like the 1970s CL-32 preamp and 1980s L-507 integrated amplifier fuel its collector appeal, while contemporary lines reaffirm its status as a boutique benchmark for those seeking "Ultimate Fidelity since 1925."
