This unit has been serviced and all functions are working and a new backup battery installed and the speakers have been recapped. A Sony FH Boombox Portable with built-in handle and detachable speakers. This is a higher end model with a full logic remote control for tape deck, CD player, tuner and amplifier control. It features twin 5-Band Graphic Equalisers and the popular Super Acoustic Turbo function. This unit has been upgraded with a Bluetooth Music Receiver so you can enjoy Spotify, Youtube Etc from your phone or computer. Tape deck features Auto-Reverse and soft-touch electronic buttons. The CDP-S37 CD Player is in excellent condition and reads discs quickly and plays without skipping. I recommend separating either the CD Player or the speakers when using the SAT-Super Acoustic Turbo function or turning the volume and bass up on the EQ as that will cause CD to skip when the BOOM hits - this is normal for most CD players without a memory buffer.Recapped! The 2-way speakers have been recapped with high quality polypropylene audio grade capacitors.200 Watts PMPOAuto Reverse Dolby Cassette DeckAM/FM/SW Radio2-Way SpeakersSony CDP-S37 CD PlayerPhono InputRemote ControlBluetooth Receiver IncludedThis is one of Sony's Portables and does not have a battery compartment. This is a vintage item, it is in good used condition with signs of use consistent with age and presents very well, the rear corner of one speaker has a small ding and a shorter cable than the other, grilles have minor imperfections. About Sony

Sony emerged from the ruins of post-World War II Japan, founded on May 7, 1946, by Masaru Ibuka and Akio Morita as Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo K.K. in Tokyo's Nihonbashi district. Starting with radio repairs and Japan's first magnetic tape recorder, the duo secured transistor licensing from Bell Labs, pioneering the TR-55 transistor radio in 1955. Renamed Sony Corporation in 1958—from the Latin "sonus" for sound—the brand symbolized Japan's ascent from cheap imitations to innovative leadership, fueled by Ibuka's engineering prowess and Morita's global marketing vision.

Sony's hi-fi legacy spans headphones, amplifiers, speakers, turntables, and DACs, alongside landmark formats like the Compact Disc in 1982 and Blu-ray. Iconic products include the Walkman for portable audio revolution and Trinitron televisions, blending consumer accessibility with cutting-edge tech. Today, offerings like the Signature Series headphones and ES amplifiers target discerning listeners seeking refined soundstaging and dynamic range.

Positioned as a mid-to-high-end powerhouse, Sony commands respect among knowledgeable buyers for blending mass-market reliability with premium performance, outpacing many pure audiophile brands in innovation and value. Far from vintage relic or niche boutique, it dominates with forward-thinking engineering, holding strong market share in headphones and streaming ecosystems.
