A Pioneer QX-4000 is a genuinely desirable vintage quad receiver, but US$361 is above the typical used-market evidence I can find. Recent sold examples land around US$129.99–US$150, while active asking prices can be higher, with one very clean listing at US$475; against that mix, this one reads ambitious for “good” condition, not a bargain.
What makes it appealing is the era-correct Pioneer build and the quadraphonic novelty—these are fun, collectible pieces when they’re complete and functioning properly. At this price, I’d want confidence on all channels, controls, and cosmetics, plus proof it’s been serviced or at least tested well; on these old receivers, light issues and scratchy controls are common age-related realities. If it’s truly clean and fully working, it’s a solid enthusiast buy, but not a steal.
