Crown ComTech D Series amplifiers are designed for versatility, flexibility, and ease of installation. With both Dante inputs and outputs, built-in DSP, power sharing, Lo-Z/Hi-Z switching, and a simple to use web configuration interface, ComTech D amplifiers are ideal for meeting the changing demands of diverse installed audio applications.
The CTD-4125 delivers 125 watts per channel of legendary Crown amplification when all channels are driven equally. Asymmetrical power sharing enables the four channels to share the full 500W in any ratio, offering unparalleled flexibility.
Built-in DSP allows outputs to be tuned specifically for every application and provides the ability to create custom speaker tunings. Factory JBL SpeakerTunings for select JBL models, including Control 400 Series ceiling speakers, are included to simplify the optimization of an all-HARMAN solution.
The amplifier can be configured through the intuitive web interface with any computer or tablet and without the need to install proprietary software. It uses HARMAN's HControl protocol to communicate natively with BSS OMNI Processors or AMX MUSE Automation Controllers and includes an easy-to-use API for integration with 3rd-party control systems.
This compact 1RU, ½ rack width device can be installed in a rack, under a table, or on a wall using the included mounting hardware.

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

The asking price is above the 75th percentile, so this reads as ambitious rather than a bargain at today’s used-market benchmark of US$2,357 median, US$1,583 at the 25th percentile, and US$3,062 at the 75th percentile. At US$3,883, it’s roughly US$821 over the upper quartile, so I’d only lean in if this is unusually clean, complete, or locally scarce.

That said, these are serious commercial speakers with the kind of JBL build that appeals to buyers who want efficiency, output, and dependable pro-audio voicing rather than boutique fluff. If the drivers are original, the cabinet is solid, and it comes with any hard-to-find hardware or matching pairs, there can still be real value here—but at this price, I’d want proof of condition and a reason it stands out from the more typical comps.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About JBL

JBL traces its roots to 1946, when pioneering audio engineer James Bullough Lansing founded the company in Los Angeles, California, initially as James B. Lansing Sound, Incorporated. A veteran of loudspeaker design from earlier ventures like the Lansing Manufacturing Company and collaborations on Hollywood's first practical cinema systems, Lansing infused JBL with his relentless pursuit of acoustic clarity and fidelity. Though he passed away in 1949 amid financial strains, the brand endured under new leadership, accelerating in 1969 with acquisition by Harman International—now under Samsung—fueling global expansion and innovation.

JBL excels across professional and consumer audio realms, renowned for its loudspeakers that dominate studios, touring rigs, cinemas, and home setups. Iconic models like the D-130 woofer, Paragon stereophonic system, and L-100 Century defined eras of high-output sound, while modern lines span portable Bluetooth speakers, wireless headphones, soundbars, and pro monitors. The brand prioritizes robust transducers, advanced horns, and diamond-surround tech over niche components like turntables, DACs, or cables.

Positioned as a mid-tier powerhouse with pro-grade heritage, JBL commands respect among discerning buyers for delivering punchy, reliable performance at accessible prices, bridging live-event energy and home listening without high-end esoterica. Its vintage icons draw collectors, yet contemporary ubiquity in arenas and everyday gear cements market dominance for those valuing scale and excitement over boutique refinement.
