Please review the photos for cabinet condition. There are some prior to me painting them scuffs, etc that I painted over. Nice Dalton speaker connectors. Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Ambitious asking price. At USD800, this DIY Scanspeak D-2608/Seas CA22RNY build sits well above the typical used market for comparable listings, where our database pegs the median at USD250, 25th percentile at USD155, and 75th at USD330. Without exact model specs or enclosure details, it's tough to benchmark precisely, but even premium Troels Gravesen-inspired pairs rarely command triple the median—expect to haggle hard or walk unless it's in pristine shape.

Buyer checks: Verify driver integrity first—Scanspeak tweeters like the D-2608 can suffer dome degradation from overdriving, so test for distortion or asymmetry at moderate volumes. Confirm crossover condition and original Snell/Audio Note parts are intact, as DIY mods often drift; ask for rebuild date and impedance/THD measurements. No stands or grilles? That's a red flag on value.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Scanspeak

Scan-Speak was founded on February 1, 1970, in Videbæk, Denmark, by Ejvind Skaaning, initially to produce drivers for Scandyna A-25 and Dynaco A-25 loudspeakers after a supply dispute with Seas. Emerging from Skaaning's prior venture QSR and ties to Scandinavian Speaker Company, the firm quickly expanded, developing iconic early products like the D2008 tweeter by 1971-74. Backed financially by Dynaco's David Hafler in 1974, Scan-Speak solidified its Danish roots, with all transducers still hand-built today by a dedicated staff of around 50 at its original facility.

The brand specializes exclusively in high-end transducers—woofers, midranges, and tweeters such as beryllium domes and the acclaimed Illuminator series—rather than complete systems like amplifiers, speakers, or accessories. These drivers power loudspeakers across home audio/video, professional, automotive aftermarket, and aerospace applications, supplied directly to top OEM/ODM brands worldwide and through distributors in over 35 countries.

Scan-Speak commands a premier position in the high-end market as the benchmark for state-of-the-art drivers, earning acclaim for uncompromising quality and innovation, from Kevlar membranes in 1988 to ongoing refinements. Once acquired by Tymphany, it returned to Danish ownership via local investors, reinforcing its reputation among discerning builders and luxury manufacturers who demand the crème de la crème.
