Seller's Description

Fully functional. Clean. It has some surface marks, but they can probably be buffed out. The cloth on the front is not as tight as day 1. , so I’m sure it can be tighten and glue or tape it back. No tears or rips or dry rot in the speaker. No crackling. The amplifier is fully functionalFeaturing a 12" driver with foam surround along with a dual ported cabinet pumped by a 130 watt RMS (300 watts peak) amplifier, you certainly get "what it shakes". Add to that a low level input (RCA connection) which is crossed over at 80 Hz, and you can fine tune your present speaker system to sound like Godzilla.PSB Century Subsonic 2i Specifications (Manufacturer's figures)FREQUENCY RANGE Response On Axis @ 0° ±3 dB LF Cutoff (-10 dB)(Anechoic Chamber)25-150Hz20HzSensitivity* Anechoic Chamber Listening Room92 dB94 dBIMPEDANCE Nomimal Minimum4 Ohms4 OhmsAMPLIFIER POWERRMS Dynamic Peak Type130 Watts300 WClass ABDiscrete MOSFET Output DevicesACOUSTIC DESIGNWoofer Crossover Design Type Internal Volume12" (305mm)Poly-coated Fiber Conewith Foam Surround1 1/2" Voice Coil, 28 oz MagnetVariable, 50Hz-150Hz24 dB/octave Linkwitz-RileyLow Pass FilterPorted Bass Reflex2 x 2" Front PortRadiused Internally and Externally1.67 cu ft (47.3 liter)SIZE (W x H x D)19.25" x 14.50" x 14.25"489 x 368 x 382mmWEIGHT Net Shipping40 lbs (18.2kg)/each45 lbs (20.4kg)/pairFINISHEbony AshLaminateFEATURESStandby/Auto On, Phase3-way Binding Posts,Gold-plated ConnectorsHorizontal or Vertical, FeetCONNECTIONSLow/Line Level Input and Output80Hz Active High Pass Filter12dB/octave Butterworth,High/Speaker Level Input and Output100Hz Passive High Pass FilterU.S. SUGGESTED PRICE$649/each

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Timing matters here because this is an older powered sub from an earlier PSB era, and age is the big variable now. At US$150, it looks like a bargain against your used-market anchor: well below the US$499 median and also under the US$160 25th percentile, so it’s priced on the low side for a working example. If it’s clean, complete, and fully functional, that’s attractive money for a vintage PSB sub.

Before buying, verify the amp plate powers up quietly, the driver isn’t rubbing or repaired, and there’s no hum, crackle, or protection-mode weirdness after warm-up. Also check for the right power cord, input/control functionality, and whether any foam surround or gasket issues are present—older powered subs can be cheap to buy and expensive to revive.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About PSB Speakers

PSB Speakers traces its roots to 1972 in St. Jacobs, Ontario, Canada, where classically trained violinist and self-taught acoustics engineer Paul Barton launched the company with two school friends, pooling savings for a modest factory. Named after Paul and his high-school sweetheart Sue Barton—who later became his wife—the brand embodied Barton's early passion for hi-fi, honed through part-time work building speaker kits at a local shop and studies at the University of Waterloo. A pivotal collaboration with National Research Council psychoacoustician Dr. Floyd Toole in 1974 established PSB's rigorous testing in anechoic chambers and double-blind listening rooms, shaping its signature "Canadian Sound" of truthful, natural reproduction.

The company focuses squarely on loudspeakers, spanning entry-level Alpha models to high-end Platinum series, alongside home theater systems, in-ceiling CustomSound options, and expansions into headphones, portable Bluetooth speakers, and subwoofers. Acquired by the Lenbrook Group in 1985—which also owns NAD Electronics—PSB gained global distribution, now reaching over 70 countries while maintaining Barton as chief designer. This heritage of psychoacoustics research ensures products prioritize flat frequency response and musical accuracy over hype.

PSB holds a strong mid-to-high-end position among discerning audiophiles, revered for value-driven performance that rivals pricier rivals without gimmicks. Its scientific foundation and "true-to-nature" ethos earn consistent praise, cementing a reputation as a Canadian benchmark in a crowded market, distributed through premium dealers worldwide.
