Der übliche Tonkopfspalt liegt zwischen 2 und 4 Mikrometern. Je kleiner der Spalt, desto besser der Frequenzgang und desto geringer die Verzerrung. Die Ingenieure von Akai haben den Spalt daher auf nur ein Mikrometer reduziert, um Ihnen einen exzellenten Frequenzgang und geringe Verzerrung zu ermöglichen. Hinzu kommt die Möglichkeit des Off-Tape-Monitorings.
Die Kombination aus Tape-Monitor-Schalter und drei Tonköpfen ermöglicht einen direkten Vergleich des Eingangssignals mit der laufenden Aufnahme. Schalten Sie einfach von „Source“ (wo Sie genau hören, was auf das Band aufgenommen wird) auf „TAPE“ um und hören Sie quasi die simultane Wiedergabe. Für noch mehr Komfort beim Monitoring befindet sich an der Vorderseite eine Kopfhörerbuchse.
Mit normalem rauscharmem Tonband bietet das 4000DS Mk II einen Frequenzgang von 20.000 Hz. Im Weitbereichsmodus wird die Vorspannung für die Verwendung mit den heute erhältlichen rauscharmen Hochleistungsbändern erhöht.
Der 4000DS Mk II verfügt über eine integrierte Mikrofon-Line-Mischschaltung. Separate Regler für Line- und Mikrofon-Aufnahmepegel sowie Eingangsbuchsen ermöglichen das Mischen und gleichzeitige Aufnehmen von Mikrofonsignalen und Signalen anderer Quellen auf Band.
Zwei große VU-Meter ermöglichen die schnelle und präzise Anzeige der Aufnahme- und Wiedergabepegel. Ein Entzerrungsschalter für die Bandgeschwindigkeit sorgt für optimale Klangqualität, egal ob Sie mit 72 oder 334 Bildern pro Sekunde aufnehmen.
Das Gerät wurde vollständig restauriert und ist sowohl mechanisch als auch elektronisch voll funktionsfähig. Wiedergabe, Rücklauf, Vorlauf, Aufnahme und Wiedergabe erfolgen auf allen vier Kanälen im Mono- und Stereomodus.
