New, these closed-back Sennheisers sat in the premium midrange; at €199, this used listing is only a touch above the €167 median and still below the €201 75th percentile, so it reads as fair, not stretched. With only 7 comparables, I’d call it a solid buy if the condition is truly excellent and it includes the stock cable and case.
What makes it worthwhile is the usual HD 620S appeal: strong isolation for a closed-back, clean tuning, and the kind of easy daily-use comfort that suits both desk listening and late-night sessions. For a recent model in clean shape, there’s not much age risk here; the main thing to verify is wear on the pads, headband, and connectors, since those are the bits that most affect value on used headphones.

Founded in June 1945 by Dr. Fritz Sennheiser in a farmhouse near Hanover, Germany, Sennheiser began as Laboratorium Wennebostel, producing voltmeters and early microphones amid post-World War II reconstruction. Seven engineers from the University of Hannover joined the founder, quickly pivoting to broadcast microphones like the DM 2 in 1946 and the groundbreaking MD 82 shotgun mic in 1956. Renamed Sennheiser electronic in 1958, the family-owned company passed to second- and third-generation leadership, maintaining its innovative spirit over eight decades.
Sennheiser excels in professional and consumer audio, renowned for microphones, wireless systems, and headphones that set industry standards. Pioneers of the first open-back headphones (HD 414 in 1968) and enduring studio icons like the MD 421 and MD 441, they also produce high-end headphones, earbuds, soundbars, and conferencing solutions. While strong in pro audio like mixers and geophysical gear, their consumer focus centers on headphones and wireless tech rather than amplifiers, speakers, turntables, DACs, or cables.
Sennheiser commands a premium position in the hi-fi market, blending mid-tier accessibility with high-end excellence for discerning buyers and professionals. Trusted for reliability and sonic precision, it appeals to audiophiles seeking reference-grade headphones without boutique obscurity, backed by a heritage of technological firsts that sustains its global leadership.
