I tested it with speakers and a turntable and it sounds great (warm, full vintage tube sound).- Powers on and plays properly - All tubes light up - Has newer Electro-Harmonix 7591A output tubes - Original transformers (the important parts) are all there and working - Wood cabinet included (note: the cabinet is not currently attached to the unit)Condition is very good for its age. At US$1,000, this looks fair-to-good rather than a steal: that’s right around the going ask for a clean 500-B/500-C class Fisher, and comfortably below the top-end examples that push past US$1,200 to US$2,000.
The upside is the sound and the cachet: these are warmly regarded tube receivers with excellent phono stages, big-gauge build, and real collector appeal. A very good cosmetic example is worth paying for if it’s been serviced, especially with original knobs, wood case, and proof it’s stable, quiet, and pulling FM cleanly. If it’s unserviced, budget for electrolytics, coupling caps, and alignment before treating it as a ready-to-go buy.
