Seller's Description

Bryston SP3 AV Processor Up for sale is a mint condition Bryston SP3 audio processor.  Sound quality is absolutely second to none. Literally sounds as good as a high end dedicated two channel preamplifier. I moved to a Storm Audio processor a few years and couldn't bring myself to move this on until now.  Note that the unit has zero marks -any apparent imperfections in photos reflect dust etc. The display is also perfect- first photo taken as the unit was booting. There are no dead pixels or any problems whatsoever with the display.  The unit is a non  4k unit as I chose not to go down the upg

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

This A$3,200 asking price is a genuine bargain, sitting well below the 25th percentile of A$3,430 in our recent AUD comparable listings, and it’s a strong deal even against the original MSRP of roughly A$15,000. With the SP3 now succeeded by newer Bryston processors, timing matters: this is a last-of-its-generation unit offering audiophile-grade performance without paying premium for the latest HDMI 2.1 features most home cinema builders now prioritize.

The SP3 is revered for its fully discrete, fully balanced analog architecture and factory 100-hour run-in, delivering rock-solid multichannel preamp performance with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding. It handles 2, 5.1, or 7.1 channels cleanly, includes 12V triggers and RS232 control, and is built to Bryston’s legendary durability standard. At “like_new” condition and A$3,200, this is a rare buy for enthusiasts seeking top-tier surround preamp quality at a fraction of original cost—no caveats needed here.

About Bryston

Bryston emerged from Canada's medical electronics sector, where it began producing high-tech blood analyzers in 1962. The pivot to high-performance audio came in 1976, sparked by James Tanner's quest to drive demanding electrostatic speakers. Drawing on medical-grade components, the debut of the 4B amplifier at the Chicago Consumer Electronics Show marked the brand's entry into hi-fi, quickly earning acclaim from critics like Peter Aczel and establishing its Canadian manufacturing legacy.

Renowned for robust amplifiers and preamplifiers, Bryston has expanded into digital components such as DACs and streamers, as well as powered speakers. This evolution reflects a commitment to both analog purity and modern digital demands, serving consumer, professional, and commercial markets—from home listening to stadium sound reinforcement—while maintaining a focus on uncompromised musical accuracy.

Positioned firmly in the high-end audio arena, Bryston commands respect for its no-nonsense engineering, timeless designs, and unparalleled reliability, backed by industry-leading warranties. Music and movie enthusiasts trust it for scientifically verifiable sound quality that endures for decades, cementing its status as a benchmark for discerning buyers seeking longevity without compromise.
