Seller's Description

Dynaudio Contour 1.3 SE Bookshelf Loudspeakers Reluctantly putting up for sale my Dynaudio Contour 1.3 SE bookshelf speakers. These were originally purchased new by my father. They were passed down to me about 13 years ago. But as I already have another set of speakers in daily use, these haven’t been getting the attention they deserve.Honestly, I’ve held onto them this long because of how incredible they sound — especially the midrange and vocals. They have that classic Dynaudio character: smooth, organic, and very easy to listen to for hours.Soundstyle Z1 Speaker Stands are also Available in

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

The Dynaudio Contour 1.3 SE is a discontinued but highly regarded bookshelf that delivers surprising bass and precise imaging from a compact cabinet. At A$1,350, this listing is a strong deal, sitting well below the typical used range of A$1,500–A$2,000 and notably cheaper than the recent A$1,000 sale in NSW which was listed as “Good” condition.

These speakers are well-loved for their musical balance, harmonic correctness, and ability to sound big despite their size. The SE upgrade over the Mk II includes refined drivers and crossover tweaks that enhance stamina and detail. Assuming the unknown condition is actually fair or good, this price offers genuine upside for a buyer seeking high-end performance without the new-market cost of the Mk II or newer models. It’s a buying opportunity, not a warning.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Dynaudio

Dynaudio is a Danish loudspeaker manufacturer founded in 1977 in Skanderborg by acoustic engineers Wilfried Ehrenholz and Mark Thorup, alongside co-founder Ivan Scarning Geard. The company emerged from a conviction that off-the-shelf speakers of the era failed to reproduce music authentically. From its inception, Dynaudio has maintained vertical integration, designing and manufacturing its own drivers rather than sourcing components externally—a practice that remains central to the brand's identity and quality control.

The company specializes exclusively in loudspeakers and speaker systems across two primary markets: high-fidelity consumer audio and professional studio monitoring. Dynaudio's consumer division produces reference-grade speakers for discerning listeners, while its professional subsidiary, Dynaudio Acoustics, manufactures studio monitors installed in more than ten thousand recording studios worldwide. The brand has earned particular distinction as a reference monitor choice for BBC Radio & Music, underscoring its credibility in professional environments.

Dynaudio occupies the high-end segment of the audio market, positioning itself among premium manufacturers rather than mass-market producers. The brand's reputation rests on uncompromising engineering philosophy—prioritizing authentic driver design over superficial aesthetics—and consistent innovation in loudspeaker technology. Since its acquisition by Chinese electronics company Goertek in 2014, Dynaudio has maintained its Danish heritage and manufacturing practices while expanding its global reach. For knowledgeable buyers, Dynaudio represents a convergence of Scandinavian design sensibility, technical rigor, and professional-grade performance in the consumer hi-fi space.
