These speakers have been used lightly in my office system over the past 18 months. I am the second owner and these were bought new a from the Australian distributor in 2023 and were only 12 months old, so barely run in when I purchased them. They are in immaculate condition in all respects and would suit a new buyer, coming with factory boxes, manuals and gold jumpers for those that do not wish to bi-wire them. Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Sonus faber’s Olympica 1 sits firmly in the serious-standmount tier, and A$7,750 looks very strong against your local comp set: it’s just under the A$7,745 25th percentile? Actually, it’s essentially at the floor of the market and below the A$7,827 median, so this reads as a bargain rather than a stretch.

What makes it worth chasing is the usual Sonus faber mix of beautiful cabinetry, refined midrange, and a smooth, listenable top end that suits long sessions as much as critical listening. If the pair is clean, complete, and well cared for, the upside is real; at this level, I’d mainly want confirmation of driver condition, cabinet integrity, and original grilles/stands if applicable.

About Sonus faber

Sonus faber was founded in 1983 by Franco Serblin in Vicenza, Italy, emerging from a singular vision to create loudspeakers of superior musical quality using natural materials and refined design. The company's name, Latin for "handcrafted sound," encapsulates its foundational philosophy. Serblin's early work—including the iconic Snail prototype inspired by Leonardo da Vinci's sketches—established the brand's commitment to marrying acoustic performance with sculptural aesthetics. The company's Italian heritage remains central to its identity, with production continuing in Vicenza for over four decades.

Sonus faber specializes exclusively in loudspeakers, a focused approach that has defined its market position. The brand is renowned for handcrafted wooden cabinets, violin-inspired industrial design, and signature model lines including the Guarneri Homage, Amati, Stradivari, and Aida. Early designs featured Kevlar woofers and silk-dome tweeters, though solid-wood construction became the defining material signature. Each speaker is treated as a musical instrument rather than mere audio equipment, reflecting the company's artisanal manufacturing ethos.

Sonus faber occupies the premium high-end segment of the audio market, commanding respect among discerning audiophiles and collectors worldwide. The brand's reputation rests on uncompromising craftsmanship, luxury materials, and the integration of traditional Italian design principles with contemporary audio technology. Its positioning appeals to listeners who view speakers as both functional components and interior design statements—a niche that has sustained the company's prestige and premium pricing across its four-decade history.
