Technics SU-V100D:Technic's unique fusion of analog and digitalDescriptionThe Technics SU-V100D is a high-end pre-main amplifier released in 1987, a model that was highly acclaimed among audiophiles of the time. The major features of this amplifier were its digital input function and built-in D/A converter, which were advanced at the time. With two optical digital inputs and one coaxial digital input, the amplifier could be connected to digital sound sources such as CD players, DAT, and BS tuners. The built-in D/A converter uses an 18-bit, 4-DAC configuration, and is designed to reduce zero-cross distortion by processing the positive and negative of the signal independently. The amplification circuit uses Technics' proprietary Class AA system (VC-4 amplifier system). By amplifying voltage and current in separate circuits, the system achieves both high-precision sound reproduction and powerful driving capability. The design also has extremely high power supply capacity, thanks to the twin monaural structure with independent left and right configurations, large power transformers (300VA each), and large-capacity capacitors (total capacity 65,600μF). It also has a “power amp direct” function that allows direct signal input from the internal D/A converter to the power amp, eliminating extra signal paths in pursuit of high sound quality. Structurally, the preamplifier and digital sections are strictly shielded to suppress mutual interference. The SU-V100D boasts an effective output power of 150W + 150W (into 6Ω), a frequency response of 0.8Hz to 150kHz (±3dB), a signal-to-noise ratio of 115dB (when Power Amp Direct), and a total harmonic distortion ratio of 0.002%, which is numerically excellent performance. The SU-V100D is a model that is packed with Technics' unique attention to detail, aiming for a fusion of analog and digital. This amplifier is in Very Good condition, with some signs of use and aging, including scratches and some scuffs on the surface (please check photos). The amp has been thoroughly tested and checked by our professional in-house technician, confirming its flawless working quality. About Technics

Technics: Japanese Precision Engineering Since 1965

Technics emerged in 1965 as a premium audio brand established by Matsushita Electric, now known as Panasonic, with headquarters in Osaka, Japan. The brand name derives from the word "technology" and was originally conceived to showcase Matsushita's high-end audio capabilities. The company's founding philosophy centered on rigorous acoustic research and engineering excellence rather than relying solely on subjective listening impressions. This commitment to scientific methodology became the cornerstone of Technics' identity and product development approach.

The brand built its reputation across a comprehensive range of audio equipment, including turntables, amplifiers, loudspeakers, CD players, tape recorders, and digital pianos. Technics achieved international prominence through its revolutionary direct-drive turntables, beginning with the SP-10 professional model in 1969 and the consumer-focused SL-1100 in 1971. The iconic SL-1200 series, introduced in 1972, fundamentally transformed DJ culture and remains highly coveted by both professional DJs and audiophiles. These turntables set new industry standards for precision engineering and reliability.

Technics occupies a distinctive position as a high-end heritage brand with particular strength in the turntable segment. While the company largely withdrew from consumer markets in the early 2000s, the brand has maintained prestige among serious audio enthusiasts and collectors. Today, Technics represents a bridge between vintage audio collecting and contemporary hi-fi, with its products commanding respect for their build quality, sonic performance, and historical significance in audio culture.
