Linn Sondek LP12 - maple plinth, Cirkus bearing and bonded subchassis, Hercules Mose power supply 33 & 45 rpm, Rega RB300 arm with Audio Technica AT-VM95, E stylus (new, only used for set up) and a Paratrace (with about 100 hours use). It’s not just “okay money” for this table; it’s bargain territory if the deck is complete and functional.
The LP12 is revered for its musical, tuneful presentation and upgrade path, so even a basic example can be a rewarding long-term platform. The real upside is in provenance and included bits: armboard, tonearm, power supply, platter, lid, and evidence of a sensible service history. Because it’s a suspended design, do check for bounce, bearing noise, and whether it needs a fresh setup or service, but at this price that’s a reasonable tradeoff for a classic that can scale beautifully.
