Seller's Description

Rega Elex R Integrated Amplifier (Solid State) Selling my as new mint condition Rega Elex R due to recently upgrading. This is a gorgeous amp, plenty of reviews online. Presents in brand new condition. Never driven hard or for long. I am the original owner, box, manual, receipt and remote will be provided. I've owned it for about 3 years and it's seen only 2-3 hours a week usage due to work commitments - I'd be lying if I said there was 200+ hours on it. First to see will buy. I would prefer pickup but I do have the box and will happily ship at buyers expense. 📌 General• Model: Rega Elex-R• Typ

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

At A$1,350, the asking price for this used Rega ELEX is ambitious, sitting well above the 75th percentile of A$877 and the median of A$563 from your comparable AUD listings. While new units cost around A$2,499, this used price exceeds the typical market range for this model, making it a tough buy unless the condition is pristine. The listing is clean, but the price is high relative to recent used sales data.

The Rega ELEX is a well-regarded integrated amplifier that delivers a revealing, faithful sound with 72W per channel and a built-in MM phono stage. Its standout feature is the integrated DAC, based on Rega’s DAC-R circuitry, supporting 24-bit/192kHz files for digital sources. If this unit is original-owner, as-new condition with all accessories, it offers meaningful upside in timing and rarity, turning a fair-priced deal into a genuine buying opportunity for enthusiasts seeking mid-tier performance.

About Rega

Rega Research, founded in 1973 in Essex, England, by Roy Gandy and Tony Relph, emerged from Gandy's lifelong passion for vinyl playback. A Ford engineer and music enthusiast, Gandy built his first turntable, the Planet, in his spare time, blending the founders' surnames to create the Rega name. From humble beginnings in a derelict mill, the company quickly gained traction with early models like the Planar 2 and Planar 3, establishing its heritage as a British hi-fi pioneer dedicated to precision engineering and hand-assembly.

Rega specializes in turntables and tonearms, its cornerstone products, but has expanded into a full ecosystem including cartridges, integrated amplifiers like the Elicit and Brio, phono stages such as the Fono, and speakers like the Ela series. While early efforts included loudspeakers and electronics from the 1980s onward, the brand prioritizes vinyl-centric components over headphones, DACs, or cables, all designed in-house for musical fidelity using specialist materials and tight tolerances.

Rega holds a revered position in the high-end hi-fi market as a niche boutique icon, prized by audiophiles for affordable, lifetime-quality performance that emphasizes music over gimmicks. Globally exported to over 50 countries from its Essex facility employing more than 150, it remains a symbol of British ingenuity, with turntables like the Planar series securing enduring loyalty among vinyl revivalists.
